John, Thanks for the comment. I love my D-50! I did look at others first. My camera is never more than an arms reach away, except when I'm sleeping (I'm worried the dog will get even and take pictures of me). The dogs are doing good right now and I have the "chill pill" ready for the old dog as soon as the noise starts. You have a wonderful Independence day yourself and yours.
