Greg, this picture does go from left to right in my rule book. The poles are on the left and then toward the front they turn to the right. I find if the rules don't work, re-write them. Just don't tell my husband I said that. I think this very eye catching!

Hi Greg, My eyes picked up the farthest power line first and ran through the rest towards the foreground. So it looks right to me. Excellent compo. Thank you for your comment on mine. I appreciate it.

well greg as a former landscape photograher for many years, most great landscapes you will find do break some rules and I find those that shoot trying to abide by the many rules endup with less than dramtic scenes. I really like this moody scene very much, the dark lighting and moody sky looks great, I love the power poles in sequence losing depth as they make there way through the scene, wonderful and original..

Hi Greg, I feel this is a very well composed shot (never heard about the left to right for landscape rule). There is enough background atmosphere from the peeking mountain tops through the silky smooth clouds which holds interest to the eye. I like the B&W tones for added mood as well, very nicely captured.

Hi Rina and thanks for viewing. I was always told that people read left to right and that landscape shots should go left to right - leading the eye through the image. I was afraid that in this image the eye started on the right at the powerlines in the foreground and lead the eye left. I guess who needs rules - it's probibly more about what feels right. Thanks for input - much appreciated as always. Regards Greg

Landscape shots should go left to right? Who said that, and more importantly, why?? And what if you live in Europe? ;-D
This is wonderful imagery Greg. Love how the mountain tops peek through the cloud cover. Almost looks like they don't belong... surreal even(?) Great diagonal lead too. Yup, works for me.
Cheers Rina.

Who said infinity is on the right? as long as the line of sight leads my eye to infinity, it's OK with me. Thank you for your comment on my photo. Best regards, Rafi

Hi again Greg....I threw the rule book away over 40 years ago. Turn your thoughts on your shot around, it does start on the left and comes whizzing intowards us on the right...how's that? I love the misty glimpses of the mountains and the relentless lines of the cables and poles coming OUT from the distance or receding INTO the distance...Any which way, it looks good, well done to you Greg. All the best ....Ray
