You have some interesting images in your portfolio James and this one's a beaut, I like the colour, tones and texture this rope light has created! Works well against the dark backgound. P.S Many thanks for your comments on my images. lol.

Annemette - Thanks for your comments. I too am bothered when my supposed-to-be-sharp images are Not. (Of course, we all have not-supposed-to-be-sharp images.) I know for myself that I put up images hoping that this community of photographers will have something to say about them (not that they are my best work or even necessarily finished work). Sometimes I post things, like this image and the attached reworking, which are just ideas waiting to bloom.

Intriguing image that reminds me of an alien waffle or a hightech building on Mars. Great texture, lighting and composition. Best wishes, Annemette PS: Thanks for your comment! My image is indeed not sharp which bothers me, but I decided to put it on UF anyway:-)

How am I ever going to compete with this?! Bah... I'll just be content to drool over your stuff [I've used up all of jude's towels anyway. she's probably still buried under a pile of them, which might explain her long absences... ].
Ok, back to the serious stuff... personally, I think the results do very well on their own, in your various abstract crops, as hypnotic and mysterious pieces.
I've taken a look at the other version you've posted above, and while it does look great, what could you possibly frame within that would stand up to it's beauty? I mean, put anything you please in there really James, but my eyes would still be drawn to that light... a moth to a flame?
Does that make sense? Rina.

I am interested in what I can do with some of these images. I thought about using this one to frame something. Here it is in a vertical orientation, but the horizontal also works well (perhaps even better). I could have done more work on this one, but I really just wanted to stick something up with the original post and to see what anyone might have to comment on them.

Thanks, Marija.
I did a series on these rope lights that night. I did another series on some different rope lights another time as well. They'll get up, you know, one a day plus iron.
The black background is simply a product of circumstance, namely shooting at night in a dark pub.

You have some really neat stuff in your portfolio (I was just wandering through it). But this image really makes it for me. It looks like some of amazing skyscraper out of a science fiction story. Well done indeed. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
