About Very happy you seem to have enjoyed these! Thank you for your great comments! Promise this is the last one. Mort asked in my previous post to give more technical info, so I'll give it a go...

Shot in RAW. Used a circ polariser. Metered for the sand - 200 @ f11 manual mode. PS process - healing tool used on a few odd spots in the sand. Then duplicated layer and played with curves to give more contrast in the sand. Of course that blew out the sky - so I erased the sky on the bg layer and flattened. The clouds needed a little punch to me - so I used the dodge tool on highlights at 17% in just a couple of areas. (ppdix taught me that, hehee) Finally I took some yellow out of the sand in the colour balance and pumped up just the green for the grass in hue/saturation. I did a light sharpening after I rezised for posting.

Hope you like it :)

I enjoyed all your beach series Peta but alas only have time to comment on one. Chose this one as my favourite. Great technical info in your about. Superb details and clarity and perfect ones in the white sand and rich blue sky. Lovely ripples in the sand and I love the splash of green in the grass. Great shot Peta.

Cheers - Ann :)

Nice series Peta, just enough details in the lines in the dunes, strong skies and interesting focal points in each. Would make a good collage.

I do like it Peta!

I love this series you have going. It's interesting, that by having the leaves in frame does not make you feel so alone. Good job with the texture in the sand. I can't tell, possibly due to the jpeg, but the far hill ripple lines appear posterized and flat.

The way the sand and sky break apart in this image , is the best of your series. Don't know what did it, but it's freakin amazing!

Well done with the colors and contrast balance!

best,
-Joel

But nevermind how you did what you did, I love what you did, the way you did what you did... got it... good... ;-D!!! Excellent composition, wonderful colors, textures, angle and 'feel'... well done!! You really dug your heels into this series... ;-DDD

Peta, my shot was taken on Stockton Beach near Newcastle in NSW. There are about 45kms of sand dunes adjacent to the beach - some of the dunes are around 40 metres high.

We went sandboarding on the dunes - the worst part about sandboarding is having to climb back up again. The boards are just wide enough to sit on, wax is applied to the underside to help them go faster. You use your hands to steer the board.

By the way a 'dud' is a flop or a failure!

Cheers

Phil

Peta, I'm not! These are wonderful images. So simple and yet so effective. Well done!

Just for the fun of it, check out the pic of my daughter sand boarding down a sand dune. It was a real hoot! I took over 200 shots during our visit to the dunes, however, they all turned out duds. I had accidently left the film speed set on 400! I was so disappointed.

I have really enjoyed seeing your shots!

Great contrast Peta, the sky looks wonderful and the little bit of grass poking through adds some interest to the picture. Great series, congrats.
