Groet,
Klaas

Hi Maxime, thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated! I think you are the first to notice the idea behind it! I think the reversed sequence is also a good option. The funny thing is that if you look at these images in the order in which they were uploaded, the mountain comes closer, but in the portfolio, looking from left to right, it is reversed. I intended the first sequence, as indicated by the numbers, as I wanted to show how magnificent and awing the the mountain looks, by getting closer every shot, revealing more of the details, if yo please... Hope this answers your question,
Cheers,
Hugo

After I saw all your 3 mountain-photos I’ve got your thought and massage! I consider you did choose a classic and conventional method to illustrate your thought and inspiration! I wonder why you did not try on the contrary, starting from this image, then number II and at the end mountain number I?! Just wondering Sir! Best regards: Maxime

Amazing terrain and nice touch in including the hikers looking at the mountain. The scale provided by including them sets this image apart from most.

Including persons, absolutely marvelous in showing how big this mountain is, I think without the previous two, its difficult to build up a correct information about the beauty of this place by only seeing the third one, the surrounding gives more idea to the scenery. All together appreciated work. Cheers Saeed

Hi Hugo,
Finally had some time to check some friends.
Breathtaking this one, never been there but I like to pack right away. To me those mountain area's are the best places to escape modern life.

Very dramatic. Looks like you went for quite a hike. And were very fruitful in your efforts photo wise. I feel extremely small and ant like with this perspective especially with the comparison of the hikers in front of you. Excellent composition....you sweated for this one..ha-ha

Hi Mike,
1. Tried that, but didn't have the desired effect, it flattened the image too much.
2. The wife and my cousin.
Thanks, much apprecieated!

Hugo -
1. Quick mask using gradient on the upper 1/3rd and use color balance to reduce the blue, should pop the mountain out just a little. Be subtle...
2. Who are the people?

Hello Hugo, As tempting as it is to comment on the subject - the mountain view itself - which is spectacular, I think I'm very impressed here by your color choices. I know fully well how difficult it is to shoot a glacier, the ice shines with highlights, its blue cast doesn't always help, etc. etc. and I think you've picked the best choices when it comes to color and contrast balance. I like the warm toning on the mountain, but also the cool blue in the sky and some light blue on the ice, giving a sense of freezing cold. The inclusion of the people is greatfor scale, and the earth and ice ripples have wonderful definition. Wonderful work! Ina

Imposing and Inspiring. I am quite surprised at the DOF, at F9! I would have guessed that you had it closed down much more. The lines and patterns move so naturally and gracefully from foreground to afar... wonderfully composed, Hugo..! ..Brad

Hi Giuliano, thanks for your comment. I thought about your suggestion, and I even tried that prior to uploading, but I felt it reduced the feel of distance too much, flattening the image a bit. The sky was there, no tampering with that; it's only enhanced to make the blue come out stronger.
Cheers,
Hugo

Hello Hugo, a nice portrait but she closed her eyes! :)))
...just joking... I've seen the original photo and I've to do my compliments for the excellent result expecially on the more worm tones in the bottom. Only the details of the mountains are in my opinion not complete. In my opinion the air should be so fresh and clean that the snow on the mountains should be brighter and shining.
Bye

Hi Randy, If you open the image, the III becomes apparent. I think the title is one "I" too long to be properly displayed in the thumbnail view.
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I did feel a bit ambiguous about the first one, and giving the excessive amount of time I spent on the first its fair to say that I struggled with it. All PS tools mentioned in the about were used, but not to such a huge extend. This is very close to the way I remember it And will always remember.
You'll definitely see quite a few more of the national parks in the Pacific NW, as well as some others I took in the area...:)
Cheers,
Hugo

I agree with Joggie, the inclusion of the people really help you to realize the massive scale of the mountain. I also like the contrast of the yellow green grass compared to the cool colors of the mountain. Nice shot~

Hi Hugo, this up-close view of the Mountain is how I like to see it most.(though up-close is deceptive as a rainbow is,you continue to work your way closer and it seems to keep moving away. By the way, I noticed that on both main photo critique page and friend's images page, the title of this is 'The Mountain-Part II' but here is part III. ??? I am one who likes your PS work on these images, I'm in agreement that at times it works, not to exagerate the scene but to present it with the best example of what was 'felt' when viewed in person. Very nicely composed, hikers give great perspective, and though sharpness does dimenish as distance to the summit grows,it is a good representation of actual view in person and helps portray the great distances involved. I really like the look of the glaciers and rugged rock. Hope we will see more than 3.
Randy

I like the different look of the rock patterns, when close and when far away - when blue, grey and warm green yellow! I like you composed the shot with foreground and background and threfore there´s different levels... Suh luck the poeple there have blue jackets ;D to fit the blue of the glaciar... Lovely place captured nicely!

Great image Hugo. The inclusion of the climbers really brings the imensity of the surroundings into perspective. The detail on the snow and glaziers is intriguing although the upper part of the mount seems a bit hazy ( the atmospheric conditions I suspect). Thanks for sharing and reminding us of the greatness of creation. Joggie
