Dave, I do crop when necessary. In this case, the tag is part of the story. When Andrew would capture an animal, he would place a tag on the tree to indicate where the animal was originally captured. The study was on oxygen turnover rate (as a measure of metabolism) in female koalas with young in the pouch. Milk and blood samples were taken, and the young measured each capture. Surprisingly to me, for such inactive animals, koalas moved a considerable distance between captures.

Are you sure you didn't use strobes to light this! Great shot. Would crop a touch off the top to eliminate that tag on the tree. (or dont u ever crop?)
