It's always good to know an airdale. Never can tell when you'll need to get pulled out of the water.

Great Shot George, In addition, thanks for your comment re: the take-off from the flight deck of the Enterprise and calling my attention to the image being reversed. The images was made along time ago in 1977 while we were somewhere in the Pacific. I was assigned to a A-6 Intruder Squadron.

Great capture of the mighty carrier. You did well adjusting in PS as the ship does stand out now from the morning mist. The apparent noise in the image dosen't really detract the overall composition as I'm guessing you've captured it handheld but you've executed it well. I appreciate your input in regards to "Subic Bay #2", indeed a tripod was utlized & the shutter was very slow in due part to the golden light of sunrise & a maxed out DOF. The blurring of the boat really dosen't bother me in a way it does give a sense of movement or activity in that area. Thanks much for the comment George, best wishes.

It is truly amazing that they not only float, but stay upright as well. The attached image is of a carrier type hull out of the water.

Yes, selective souping up of contrast could well have caused that.

Jerome, this was taken at about 1000 hours local time and there was a lot of haze and mist. The low hanging sun didn't help either. If you look at the background, that will show you what the conditions actually were. I also used the curves function from PhotoShop, and I suspect that is where the noise is generated. Thanks for your interest and kind comment.

Very impressive shot of a very impressive ship. Sadly I've never seen a modern carrier except on photos and film.
Why is the image so noisy? If you used EI50 it should be smooth as glass.

Don, as awkward as an aircraft carrier may appear to the eye, once you see one in a drydock, completely out of water, it becomes quite clear why they don't tip over. There is an unbelievable amount of ship below the water line.
