thank you Ron. The bands are some plants in the midground over a moat and unreachable to move aside. i tried cloning them, but decided it was better to just leave them in as an unavoidable context.

It's a great shot and a truly fine looking lion. I see some bands across the lion that are somewhat disturbing, (created in post) but they are probably an improvement on what was bothering you in the 1st place. Well done.

Very gorgeous shot- would be a perfect Natnl Geo cover. The colors and DOF are excellent, too.

Hi Ann - thank you, and yes I did blur the background. I shot this at ISO 1600 and had to do some PS work because of all the digital noise. The lion came out fine, but the background, somewhat darker, was very grainy and I finely gave up and just blurred it out.

WOW this is fantastic! Did you add some blur with P/Shop to the background cause it really pops off the background. It's beautiful. the fine details in his fur is brilliant and the colours and clarity throughout the image is superb. INto my favourites this one goes. I love it. really caught my eye as I was going through your portfolio. a very imressive image Mister Ken.
Thank you also for your comment on my Frozen Falls image.
Cheers - Ann :)

Thank you Talat. While I did not use much PS on this, I did isolate the blue channel, which provided more texture to the lion's coat than the red or green channels, then placed the original RGB layer on top for the color information.

Thank you Jacques. In fact, the lion was nicely distracted by the roars of a nearby tiger. But it's nice to think he was posing just for this photographer :-).
