Thanks Miles. Some day I'll set up a studio with proper lighting.
This portrait was taken with about $10 worth of lights.

Agree with you that a reflector may have been an idea, but still a nice portrait.

Thanks for the kind words Alison,
The toy cow was a gift from her great grandmother in France, which Ashley keeps in a little pink backpack. My wife suggested that we send a picture to grandmama so I set up the shot and took the picture we see here. Afterwards I was told that Ashley has two toy cows in her little pick backpack and this was the WRONG COW! ***sigh*** I am still very fond of this picture. I’m surprised the only suggestion I received was for composition. I would think the greatest defect in this picture is the shadowing on her little left arm or the unattractive backdrop.

Thanks for the kind words Nacho. This was a very expensive picture for me.
In the first place, it was this picture that convinced me to get a 85mm f1.8 prime lens. I’ve taken about 5000 pictures with that lens and I love it. Sadly the sickness hasn’t stopped there. I’ve ordered the 24-105/f4L which I expect to arrive today or tomorrow and it all started with a little bit of softness in this picture but the tones are nice.

I'm amazed the light looks as good as it does. It was an interesting experiment with light.
Don’t you think the composition would look unbalanced if the girls eyes were higher in the frame then they are or if her eyes were further off center?
Thank you for looking at my portfolio. Tchou!

Boa luz. Na composição deslocaria um pouco para a esquerda e para baixo para não cortor o braço da menina e a pata de sua pequena amiga.

Thanks for the comment. It's surprizing what can be done with good light, a cute subject, narrow DOF, close cropping and an ice cream cone
