Doyle,

Such is the beauty of the human race. We don't all see things the same. How boring that would be. You see it as a natural element. I see it as an unnatural blemish. My eye keeps being drawn to it as it sticks out like a sore thumb. I do find it very distracting. I see ugly con trail instead of beautiful sunrise, but that's just me. I tend to dislike any element of human interference in my nature shots. I understand and I can see how others find the mix of nature and man a poignant contrast. After all, we are just as much a part of nature as any other creature. Please take this as my 2 cents. I think it is a gorgeous picture as it stands, or without the con trail.

My best regards,

Todd

You are so right. Thank you for pointing that out to me. I re-edited the picture and I think it looks better.

Art,

You are so right in your comment. She certainly is a photogenic subject. Were you out on at Concession 20 Saturday morning? I hear there were a few people out that morning.

Award well deserved, my friend.

Doyle,

Superb colours and beautiful composition, as usual my friend. May I suggest you clone out that nasty con trail though?

Well done.

Hi Joe,

This shot turned out great. We sure had an awesome day for shooting the Snowie. A bit chilly though. I have been to photograph this beauty on 4 of the past 7 days. Stay tuned.

Superb timing and composition! That's a tough exposure to balance. No sign of camera shake from you laughing either. Well done. ;^)

Dave,

That would be great. I would love to show you some excellent birding/photography sites very near there so you will have some place to go when you come down.

Cheers,

Yamil,

All your shots are so superbly focused and colorful. Even though I don't comment on all of them, I look at all of them in awe. Kepp 'em coming.

Joe,

Great catch, my friend. We should get together again soon. The Snowy Owl hasn't shown up in Navan yet, but I'll keep looking.

Dave,

When were you in Ottawa? You should have looked me up. It would have been great to meet you in person. Please let me know the next time you are coming this way and I'll be happy to give you the tour.

Where exactly was this taken? Well seen and captured.

Hi Joe,

Beautiful sunrise! Well captured. That's a nice, bright sun pillar you captured there too. A phenomenon caused by ice crystals in the cold morning air.

Joe,

Unbelievable!!! That is the best Cardinal shot I have ever seen. The feather detail and the raised crown are the stars of this pic. Excellent work.

Hi Doyle,

Ya, it is kinda white, isn't it? LOL

Truth is, this is a strangers dog that I saw in a park and I just took the shot on a whim. The light was harsh and the camera was set for bird-in-flight shots. I could probably save it if I cropped for just the head. The histogram did look ok on this shot and I didn't want to process the facial feature into black spots.

It is cute, though.

Hi Andre,

Thanks for the tip. I had heard about that technique from a local birder. In this case it was a 4' deep ditch with melt-water running through it. It was just too cold to swim. ;^)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Doyle,

Good to hear from you again, my friend. How have you been? Happy New Year to you and yours.

I agree with your assessment about the light levels. Problem is I don't know how to do it without ruining the picture. This was taken in very low lighting so there is very little contrast to begin with. When I try to bump the contrast I end up with pixelation and other artifacts. My editing skills are lacking, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the comments.
