I have a few comments on this portrait:

1. BW adds a pleasant touch
2. the collar could have been cropped out - attached a cropped version & burned the midtones a little
3. the dog is "avoiding" eye contact - this distances the subject from the viewer (sorry i cannot make the dog look at me with my MS photo editor)
4. the colors of the eyes are different.
5. pretty nice depth for a shot so close.
6. appears to be half a stop over, the fur lost details.

Overall - a pleasant personal approach.

Cheers!

One dark eye, one light and the nose markings are dynamite. Excellent shot with wonderful detail of this handsome bull dog. B&W good choice.

Fantastic details in your photos. This is my favourite. The way you captured the softness of his head and the clarity of the eye. Very good!

Very nice use of your light Jeff! The eye may have been more finely focused, but the composition and perspective of this shot could not have been better. This is a very creative piece. Your choice of monochrome is the perfect choice to showcase it. Very well done. -john

Thanks George, I was suprised to find out how much action this baby saw. I initially thought it was just an old Coast Guard cutter. Far from it! Thanks for the Comments.

gorgeous cat! Interesting choice to turn this image into black and white as the most beautiful thing about color pointed cats is their big blue eyes
Still nice work

hi, silky, smooth, pastel dreamy comp...wish the person was more off center and more defined, but completes the concept of "Alone"...there is a project or category called "Alone" which you could place this in like you did "people"

When browsing the new images, I clicked on this and upon opening it my fiance went: "WOAH... What, is that?" After closer ispection we realized what it was. This is phenominal. And that is all I have to say... which says alot

Superb macro, Jeff!
I've been playing with a friend's 60mm micro just recently and am finding it very difficult to get really sharp images!!
Kind regards, Chris

Great macro. The off center composition adds a sense of dynamism and the DOF is very effective in isolating the face(?).
