Thanks to all of you who said such wonderful things about my photo. I think Paris has some of the world's most beautiful structures, and it is my pleasure to be able to share my photos of some of them.

As an advertising design teacher, I have a high appreciation for commercial photography, and this rates very high as a great commercial shot. I love the crisp image and the color. Very nice.
Thanks for your comment about my tiramisu! Sad to think I ate it after that photo... Denise

Margaret, The city was campaigning very strongly for the 2012 Olympics at the time I was there, and the major buildings and monuments all had decorative neon or graphics in bold colors. The rings were, I assume, a reference to the Olympic rings.

Ed. Your bio photo makes me giggle. I took a shot very much like this one at a stop in Texas... I love this Newcastle Gray shot too. Very well composed I think. -Denise

Before I enlarged this, I thought it was a photo of a little girl. It was quite something to see that face come into view. Wonder if she was thinking about her younger days? Very nice, evocotive shot.

Your duck posed better for you than mine did for me! I wasn't very patient when I was there in the Tuileries - just walking past... I liked those ducks though. The color in the water and the duck look very nice.

In the land of the pickup truck where I live (in Texas) it seems rare to see a car like this! I was amazed at how many there were in Paris. Now I find out that Toronto has these too! It has been about 10 years since I have been in Toronto. It is a beautiful city...

George, It is regretful, but I didn't get inside on this trip. I have a friend over in Paris right now, and I hope he can get in this trip to get some shots. He is lucky, he gets to stay a month. I was only there for a week. (Even at that, I came back with nearly 1000 shots.)

I took the liberty of running a little shadow and highlight correction in Photoshop because on my monitor I was missing some of the data in the left side of your beautiful photo. I know that no one likes to have someone else mess with their photo, but I wonder if this is a fair representation of what you were seeing through the lens? I like the darkness that you had originally on the right side, but I found myself wanting to see more on the left side.

As in much of the Impressionist painters' work, this piece fairly screams with symbolic interpretation possibilities. I know that one of the lovely things about art is that we all get to create our own stories. I see the long years of love and I see the inevitable fate of death in this picture, especially with the bird and the protective umbrella.
