to the lover everything reminds him of the beloved one
the same saying goes for all neurotics

so love is a special kind of neurosis

Sean, I think a lot is here, but the magnolia could use a bit more light, I think. It took me a few seconds to orientate to the photo because I didn't *see* it right away. Composition works. Jim

Mike, I printed and developed this myself. It is a scan of a print.

It probably would work better without patterns on back, however, its all I have. (the only thing that was big enough to fit) The white things on bottom are actually pillow cases and the 'drape' in back is a table cloth. The lighting for this was just the hanging lights above my kithen table. Thanks for the comments

A good concept with nice sepia tones. I think this would work much better without the patterned drapes in the back.

Some weirdness indeed. Did you develope & print (or just scan) this yourself or was it done in a lab?

Scan seems ok...You handled the lighting nicely...The toning is also nice...only gripe is the tiny black spot on the bottom center of your backdrop near the bottom edge of the frame......

As far as practice pears go.....this one is OK man. I like the tones and the exposure is good too. I might have composed it so it wasn't that centered but other than that I like it.

The scan doesnt seem too bad Sean. Very nice toning of the photo as a whole. I like the light you captured on the pears. I'm with you about wanting winter to leave. I was stuck taking picture of my lamp today.

That's cool - it looks so 3D. I'd try it but it's tough finding frost in Florida...

Kathryn : thanks a bunch for your comment. This was some morning frost that had collected some of the glass on my porch door. I used my digital camera to capture it and to get extremly close up I used a reversed film lens on top of my digital camera lens and the light coming from the porch lit up the flakes and the blue in the back is totally unedited and it is from the sky. Thats pretty much it.

I like this - looks like snowflakes to me. Can you enlighten us on what it is? Kind of looks like a tree painted silver to mebut I'm probably being a total dolt...

Sean, thanks for the comment! No, the skull wasnt superimposed. It was originally a color image and I desaturated it with PS... The dark area behind it is some kids head... This is a really cool image as well... along with the rest of your gallery... good work!

Very nicely done. Agree with Harvey that the hotspot could be toned down some but it is a nice image. Love the color.

Is the shift from the liquid entering the glass natural or was it done in PS?

Jim, thanks for your comment, you're right. In the photo, I had a friend dump this mapel syrup into a glass full of water. The lighting was very poor, I dont really have anything like a studio, I used a flashlight, once again, and I did some work in photoshop with getting rid of the reflections and such, and the backround was done in photoshop too. Thanks again.

Sean, great lighting and great concept, the only thing I ask is that could you please give some info on how you did the shot. It looks like your puring one liquid into another.
Thanx,
Jim Gamble

Nice simple abstract. I'd clone that small white spot top right as it appears to be a bit of a distraction. Also I'd like to see it posted a bit large for a bit more impact.

I like the DOF on this one man. Granted, it would be nicer if the middle blurred one was sharp but this is cool. I like the snow clinging on for dear life.
