Thank you Eric for your suggestion I appreciate your feedback. I actually shot this intentionally with more space at the top. The course I'm taking is for commercial photography and the idea was if someone is using it for an ad, could add text in the empty space without the text covering up her.
But your suggestion is good too for the regular portrait

Thank you Susann and Rob!! Yes, her mom was quite pleased with them. I'm pleased with them as well. I'm not used to photographing people (more landscapes, floral, and wildlife), but I had a great time and it may be something I'm going to lean towards more in the future.

Thank you Chris! Trust me, if you try out the Canon 100-400 IS lens, you'll end up buying it It's a wonderful lens and I don't know what I would do without it now. I use a tripod most times, but for those times (such as these photos), it comes in really handy to hand hold it with the IS on. I've gotten sharp photos hand held as low as 1/15. Granted that's on my good day when I'm not too shakey, but I have gotten it. I'm totally impressed with this lens.

Carsten, I didn't do any adjustments with levels for the sky. I think what you are seeing is when I converted to a jpg file from a .cr2 file. I do work with tiff files, but we are not allowed to upload them here.

Thank you Rob! This was taken at the Irishtown Park. I was disappointed to see the feeders were down, but I guess I got lucky to get these photos. I think he was hiding in a nearby tree when I passed by. I think this one was curious what my camera and lens was and decided to take a closer look...lol. I saw 3 of these birds before I left.

Thank you Fred for your comments! I was wondering what the name was of this bird He was so beautiful. I got 6 shots of him before he flew away.
I'm uploading another couple of photos of him. I'm not sure which one I like better.
