When it is the little Meercat's turn to guard the troop, we know it -- the eyes, as caught by the camera, are big and black and fixed on his surroundings, and he will not be distracted. The photographer captured the little animal's posture perfectly, we know immediately that this creature is on guard duty!

This is an old fellow whose expression conveys all the knowledge he inherited from his Egyptian ancestors, combined with the modern absurdity of modern homo sapiens. I love his beautifully cynical look at all of us who love and worship his species.
