I love the perspective and the lighting. The shapes here are so cool. Looks like you had a great time in NY.

Thanks Paul. I sent my camera to lifepixel for modification. They remove the hot mirror filter inside the camera and replace it with an IR filter that blocks visible light and allows IR light to pass through. The best thing about the mod is I can shoot infrared at any shutter speed now.

I really like the angles here. Very different from the spiral staircase images I've seen. Great!

Peter,
Thanks for your comments. I can use any shutter speed with the modification (the blur is intentional here). The camera functions exactly like it did before the mod, but its dedicated IR now. I used lifepixel for the modification and I was very happy with them. The turn around time was about 2 weeks and the cost was $350. If you aren’t afraid to perform your own camera surgery, they sell the hot mirror replacement filters for $95 and provide instructions. I’ve also heard good things about maxmax.

Best,
Laurie

Thank you for your kind comments Robert! I'm having a lot of fun with the IR and the modification has made it so easy. Not having to fumble around with filters is sooooo nice!

I really like this one. The tilted horizon really adds an unusual view here and I love the tones. Great work!

Thanks Linda! I'm having a lot of fun with IR photography these days. I don't think an IR filter will work very well with the 20D. From what I've heard the exposures have to be really long when using a filter and even then the results are not always great. I sent my rebel to a company called lifepixel and they removed the filter inside my camera so now it's a dedicated IR camera and I can use any shutter speed I want.
