Oh thanks for your explanation! I did wonder how you could get that close even if having a lens.
I also tried having an eagle on my arm, but I didn´t get to take a photo though.
All the best
Annemette

Hi Jeff,

Intricate erosion patterns - pretty spectacular. The lighting emphasises the shapes nicely. Nice photo

Cheers,

Hugo

Hi Meg - Thanks for your image which is good. I use Roxio's software and the sharpening tool can be a little bit severe, so I use it with care. I don't think Roxio's version is as good as PS and I will think about upgrading. - Regards Jeff :)

Hi Jeff,
I don't know if you work with Photoshop, I just quickly ran your image through CS2 and by using shadow/highlights, contrast/brightnes and then just a touch of sharpening this is what I came up with.

Hope you don't mind.
Meg.

Meg - thanks for your coments and advice.

I have revisted the photo and tried to digitally enhance it with more contrast etc. (I posted original photo as it was produced by camera with only cropping carried out and maybe I was a bit too hasty in uploading the photo). Here is the revised photo wich I think may be better!

I like the way you have got in close to this magnificent animal so we get to enjoy those beautiful eyes. I don't know whether it is the human shaped eyes or the furrowed brow that makes this bird look like it is pondering a problem. Either way it grabs me emotionally, nice work. CC

Hi Annemette - thanks for your kind comments on my photo of the owl. You are right it is a very beautiful bird and I was lucky in that the owl was part of a flying show for birds of prey at the zoo. After the show the handlers allowed the audience to view some of the birds at close qauters, so I was able to take some lose up pictures of the owl as it sat on the handlers arm. I may post some more of the photos I took later. Regards Jeff #)

Many thanks for your comment on my "Little Prince" - not a typical shot for me, but I'll try anything! And at the end of the day, it's encouraging comments like yours that push me forwards.

This is a lovely shot. What strikes me most is the BIG clouds and the small mountains... Can't quite get the balance of it as it's too big to fit on my screen, but I suspect I might have considered cutting a little of the sky. Shame I know, but I just feel it doesn't add to the image.

I'm adding you to my list of Associates. Two reasons: I like your work and your images will keep me in touch with my roots!

Oh, and I also assume that it gives me the right to say what I really think...

Gorgeous colour Jeff!!! I would be tempted to burn out the pink on the lower right, but yes, the sharpness is impressive, lucky you for having a macro lense, my poor little fixed lense camera does not have such capabilities...but we struggle on!! LOLOLOL
Great work,
cheers, Bek

Beautiful colours and a real feeling of tranquility (even though there could be a storm to follow...). But that frame won't fit on my screen!

Striking. It's a beautiful viaduct and the yellow train stands out wonderfully against the sky. I think it would be even better if you had two complete viaduct arches and the train slightly off-centre. The train also appears to be lacking a little sharpness - maybe due to the processing?

I think this is a really beautiful shot! It looks a tad sharp, but sometimes that happens during upload.

I know in photography we are supposed to go by the "rule of thirds", but somehow the way this is more centered really works for me! I like being able to see the wet sand reflecting the clouds as well as the rich blue sky, almost like a natural gradient. I wouldn't want to crop out either part and I think this image is well balanced and wouldn't be the same if you did go by the rule of thirds.

Nice work!
