may be an horizontal crop could improve the scene which is a bit crowded even though the vertical format increase drama as your principal aim

I'm sorry, but I can't! I framed the photo with the hole at the very top of the frame because just beyond the hole was a wall at the end of the water. However, you're right that this is a crop, but what I removed was quite a bit of water in the foreground. Nice idea though - I had the same idea when I looked at it after I got home!
