nice satin texture of the water Mark, a bit surprising considering the fast shutter speed. It must have been a fast flowing river. Colors of the sunrise looks very nice on the water. Cropping looks perfect.

Thank you shirley, It nice to hear from an oregonian, I was there at Portand, OHSU, for 2 years as part of my training mid nineties. Its a beautiful state. I miss it terribly.

Very nice composition, the colors of red on white almost never fails to enchant, the background is nicely Black, and the base of the vase neutral nicely adds to the inage. I wonder if the sunglasses is intentional, nevertheless it adds interest to the image.

this butterfly also looks very nice, only that some parts of the body is dark again its the contrast problem with the background which a lot brighter than the butterfly. One thing you can do is try a flash which you can down strength to make it more natural, just my two cents worth.

Hi avi, Thanks for the comment on the picture. the original actually showed the flowers on just the right exposure but the butterfly was slightly shadowed, thus I enhanced the contrast and brightness to better exposed the butterfly's face which of course overexposed the flowers. The thing with digitals is that its contrast tolerance is limited compared to film. Maybe somthing better would to double exposed for one for the flower and one for the butterfly then sandwiched them.

I like the way you presented the peaks aline at the diagonals with the higest peak at the top most thus giving the an image to the viewer of a vertical climb, the intervening mist gives it very nicel provide a mysterious feeling of unseen dangers. Very nicely done Mark.

The shadows of the boats gives this photo an abtract quality. The still richly colored water serves as the perfect background for the silhouettes. Wonderful Jo T
