Ya know, I adore this picture just for the composition & your willingness to approach it with a photographic interest. Not all people are interactive with others. I am not too much. Just kind of shy perhaps (working on that). I was going to put "too bad about the blur..." but then once I read your thoughts on it I decided that I like it this way too. It adds to it. I agree & like the way you said it.

Great title! That was funny where you said "Driving & snapping", haha, sounds mighty familiar to me too!

Hmm, you & I have a lot in common that our creative thoughts keep going long after our resources have gone away, still pushing ourselves, making use of what remains available. & Thus still coming up things that are "post-worthy". For that, I like this very much. I too thought it was a drain. Interesting way of doing it.

Very nice! & Yes I agree! I too go on late night wanderings. Sometimes those are the best pictures. Less people to deal with & sometimes things have more of an appeal about them. There's always a first time for a cop to show up, be careful out there & good work! Nice portfolio too!

Marc -- Great capture! You can just see the joy and delight of discovery dancing in her young eyes. Love the shallow depth-of-field. Using it, you've managed to place emphasis on the emotion of the moment. Great work and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your recent images posted here.

Cheers,
-Mike.

A fine example of how children's photography should be, capturing the spontaneity and joy which is often lacking as we get older. I like the hand gestures in focus. I'd be proud if this were one of my images.

Todd,
Good to hear from you. I'll bet you are excited about the opportunity to move to Portland. But, yes, before you do - I expect to be in the Minneapolis area in the spring, and I'd like to see if we can schedule a day shooting together. Although, my wife and I have friends who want us to come visit them in the Northwest, so maybe Portland could work, too. In any event, here is my e-mail address, so we can keep in touch:
nonewsnow@aol.com
Best regards,
Mark

hiMark, thanks for the headsup about Elvis Perkins. i hope to check out that show. "the entry" as the locals call it, is just a 10 minute walk from my apartment.

i'd love to go out shooting sometime! will you be in my neck of the woods? i'll be in minneapolis through winter and spring, but i'm moving to Portland, Oregon next summer! can't wait for the change of pace.... good to hear from you.

Todd,
Also, I see that Elvis Perkins will be in your area soon. On 11/11/06, at the "7th Street Entry" Minneapolis, MN. w/ Pernice Brothers.
Have you seen his show? You'd enjoy it.
I saw him recently in Annapolis. Its worth the effort to get tickets. All the best,
Mark

Todd,
It's great to hear from you. This past year has been mixed blessings for me. Very busy ... work ... moved from PA to MD ... and now making a life stage transition. I have a bunch of images that are just sitting and waiting for me to do something with them.
I hope you are still actively pursuing your hobby / passion, and that you are well also. If you are so inclined, and your schedule would allow, it would be great if we could spend a day shooting images sometime in the next year.
Best regards,
Mark

James,
Thanks for looking at the latest images, and especially for sending me your comments. It has been a crazy year, and I have high hopes of creating more images and becoming more active on UF again ... although I think I am still a month or two away from achieving that goal, with my commitments over the coming weeks.
This was my first trip to China, and I was extremely impressed. I hope to return before too long. Your thoughts and recommendations on places to go and things to see, would be very welcomed. I think you have my e-maail address, if you have a few minutes to drop me a line.
Best regards,
Mark

hi mark, long time no see.

i've been to yangshuo and the li river several times and can attest to cloudy and rainy weather in summer. thats normal tho.

nice shot, and you did well to get this the way you did despite less than ideal conditions.

best wishes. james
