John,
Sort of the "walking man's" version of Riding the Line from the other day.

Todd,
Nice abstract. The symmetry of the primary subject-shapes, supported by the brick sill produce a very strong visual. But, as one looks longer, more interesting details emerge, adding a complexity to what initially appears to be a minimalist image. In particular I like the fact you have captured the pair of windows which appear as reflected images in the upper portion of the brown rectangle ... They act as compliments to the primary subjects in the image.
All very nicely conceived and executed.
Regaeds,
Mark

Todd,
I think you are right. When I get a chance I'll rework this shot. I had a similar reaction myself, but I generally resist applying too much PS. But in some cases PS work is really the best thing for the image. Thanks again.

Colin,
A very nice piece of work ... especially for a first effort. Before getting to the technical side, where I won't say much, as I am not skilled in this area myself ... I think you did a super job of conceptualizing the entire image you wanted to create.
With respect to the finished piece, it looks as if you may have gotten a little tired ... because a few minor alterations would help. For example, the moon needs some adjustment using the clone tool to fix the clipped left edge. Use of the feather tool would create some more realistic overlay of the different layers. And, as I said, I suspect you know these tactics, but you may have just run short on time.
Congrats!

Todd,
Well, one would think there is an easy answer to your question, but ...
It turns out what you are "saying in your head" is the way I generally pronounce my name. Simply, because it is easier on the receiver. The correct way, is to pronounce the W as a V. In this case it is Va-loz. (Just like the first portion of the word Velocity.)

James,
I really like the image of yours that was featured on the Home Page today. I hope it brought a lot of folks to see your wonderful collection of images on UF.
As for my stitched image, the printed version is roughly 18 inches long and perhaps 3 inches high. I have given it as a gift to a handful of friends, and it has always been well received. It was a fun project, although not one that I actually set out to do. My wife and I had left the Tate Museum (not Tate Modern) and as we walked, I clicked off the serious of photos. When we got home from the trip and I saw the series ... ah hah, the stitched image was about to be officially born. It was my first and only attempt at stitching ... a lot of work, but well worth it.
Best regards to you,
Mark

Todd,
Really well seen!
Such an interesting array of shapes and sizes of rectangular objects.
And, to add the cherry on top, its great to see one of your yellow parking poles / barriers found its way into the shot - just to add an additional Todd signature.

John,
There is a lot to praise in this image!
Well seen ... nice capture (subject on the move) ... very well cropped to create a dramatic composition ... and overall, just love the way you got him "riding the edge of the shadow".
Congrats.

David,
I like the subject matter and the composition.
Had you considered converting to B&W? I wonder if it would draw more attention to your subject's face, and expression, which is the focus (not in literal terms) of your image. The attire, although interesting in its own right, seems to fight to draw attention away from the confused expression.

Nice details! Looks like a tin can had been used as a "temporary" replacement for the top of the electric box.
Nice composition, too. Congrats,

Jeanette,
OK, so how much risk were you taking while capturing this image? It looks as if you could have been on a catwalk ... perhaps at some height?
For me, the rust (red sand?) makes the picture. It so nicely adds a little extra to what would have otherwise been entirely cool colors.

John,
This particular shot was purely instinctive ... as I was in a hurry to get, by foot, across town. I can't even remember thinking about the shot, but just snapped it quickly before the moment was lost, and as I continued on my way.
Thanks so much for such generous praise, it is greatly appreciated.

Marian,
Thanks so much for your kind remarks.
Burano was absolutely perfect for the type of images I like to capture. It was a great afternoon wondering around, observing, and snapping away.

Paul,
Great image ... from my hometown. Its terrific the way your image makes the 2nd floor appear as if it is suspended in air by leveraging the open space and showing the level below, and by bringing the outside in to your image with the emphasis on the large glass wall.
I wonder if you played around with the idea of cropping the image, by eliminating about an inch or so on the right. It would eliniate from view the large support column, which might further enhance the image of the floating 2nd floor.
Congrtas on a beautiful image.
Best regards,
Mark level

Todd,
With the angle of this shot, I feel as if I am Jonah (I think I hav ethe right biblical reference here - although admittedly a very weak area for me, so I may be wrong) about to enter the concrete whales mouth!
So ... with that interpretation / visualization drawn from your image, I have to agree "We (I) so Krazy".
Nice capture.

Claudio,
I love this kind of simple abstract ... strong composition and beautiful blue color. The very deep black of the window is very effective. I wish the green of the bars on the windows could be a bit more visible.
Very nice work.

Really well done! Very clever and great shadows.
I love the effect created by the interesection of the shadows from the seat back with the shadows from the table top. Great composition, and well seen!
