Im no expert but looking on various sites I like your suggestion of Meadow Pipit the pictures seem to fit and your diving while singing seems to match "in the breeding season it has a fluttering 'parachute' display flight" found on one site.

Anyway, I think it's a cracking picture of whatever it is and as good as if not better than the ones on most of the sites dedicated to birds.

Hi Steve. I haven't been around for a while. Now I am back and can enjoy some of your recent work. Fantastic field; the cloud makes it look even better and adds vastness+space.

Good contrast between the sky and flowers. You found a new energy source....... here in Belgium they want to make fuel of the oil from this plant.

Thanks for the comment Randy, yes background is natural - just a grass meadow, although I did pass the background through NeatImage, which tends to blur common colours together.
Regards
Steve.

Steve, it's all been said about this shot. All I can say is that I endorse all the comments and if there was a word that meant more than perfect I would most certainly use it. I raise my hat to ya.

Wow! I love how you managed to have the bird and fence so crisp with the totally blurred background. Great job! I think the barbed wire makes the photo. 7+

Great shot Steve. His wire perch is perfect accent to composition. Great clarity. Is green background natural result from DOF or blurred afterward? Even though he didn't turn around, you still captured his eye and beak, and we get a good view of it's plumage.Randy
