This is a wonderful industrial image. It's almost like an assembly of blocks, triangles and circles. This is enhanced by the saturated colours. I like the way the different elements are different colours - the green ship, the blue derrick, the orange silos... The wooden jetty and bollard in the foreground give a sense of perspective.

When I started experimenting with HDR, I hadn't realised that it could be used in various ways to create different effects. This image is one where the HDR is more obvious and I think it is superb - but I have also come to realise pretty fast that there are some who really dislike this style!

Again, I spotted a hint of HDR before seeing the categories. Nice job on the tones, and this one is definitely not oversharpened! ;)

(How would you feel about losing those wires?)

Everyone seems to be getting into HDR at present, Mark, me included... I like this for the subtle application of the technique. It seems to bring out the tones and details without being oversaturated or oversharpened.

This beautiful architecture is instantly recognisable. I spent quite some time in Lahore in the early '90s and this image brings back many memories.

Perhaps you have taken many shots here. I find this one perhaps just a little stark - something to add depth such as some people in the foreground or a slightly less full-on angle to add some perspective. Don't get me wrong - I think this is a great photo, but I'm just wondering aloud how to improve it even further so that it represents even better the wonderful scenes that I remember from here.

Hello Brigitte!

It is indeed magnificent! I have often wondered how to capture the spring flowers around Tarifa but never really succeeded. You have managed to capture a lovely scene here and include the blast of colour that the flowers bring.

Incidentally, sorry for perhaps inflaming the discussion on "Springtime in the Sierras I" - it was meant to be a light-hearted dig at Sunset Man, but I now see that it might not have been very helpful...

No Sunset Man - the road is not so unattractive and adds a human scale. But I would have thought you might have suggested to Riny that he referred to the lack of sky at the top of the image - would not a little more space here perhaps improve the image even further?

Love the shape against the dark background. I think I see what Keith means about the brightness - don't know what illumination you used but it just appears that there is rather harsh lighting (flash?)in the central area.

For the pano function to work, the height needs to be at least double the width - not sure if it is quite on this one...

Interesting image. It does indeed have some of the characteristics of HDR, but not really the dynamic range. What exactly do you mean by fake? Is it processing that is intended to make the result look like HDR, or is it HDR processing of different exposures of a single image (which I would not actually categorise as "fake")?

Excellent street shot - great detail across the light and shadows, nice tones against the brickwork of the buildings and fascinating insight into local culture.

Thanks Ray. As is said to Susie, I have a feeling that parking wherever necessary is company policy, but I may be wrong...
