This has all the properties to make it beautiful, Good shape, contrast, deep interlock and ambiguity, levels of scales, gradient...etc
Read the book ( Nature of Order ) by Christopher Alexander, and you will know what i am talking about, simply you know beauty because you feel it, this writer is studying it.
I loved all your Mandala images. Great work Rose

Margaret, it is easy. Go to http://flamingpear.com and download their demo plug-ins for photoshop... you do have photoshop right? well there's one there called flexify. Take any image and apply flexify to get a ball... there's lots of sliders to play with to get the right angel. There's also a plug-in called "flood" there, that's how I do the water on the bottom or in the background of my work, (my lover's eyes) again lots of sliders for waves etc. Give them a try, they're so much fun and turn out beautiful work. The plug-in demos are good for 30 days.

I think this is just fabulous, love the rich colours. and the ball effect is just wonderful. I have seen quite a few along these lines lately and they look terrific - I have no idea how to go about doing this. you say 'flexified into a ball' as though it is so easy - wonderful work

My son is a Scorpio. This is really nice work Rose. Love the satiny smoothness of the orb contrasting with the sharp edges of the scorpions. Really good choice of colours.

when i first saw this photo, the thumbnail, i thought your dad looked like the grandfather in the "munsters."

well, no matter that he is angry and is a handful to take care of for you or anyone else, you have to love him. my mom became ill early this year. i managed to go home to see her in february, and left again for china, thinking she would live till summer and i could get back again to see her. but she didn't. i could have stayed home and got another job, but i chose to come back here.

anyway, enjoy anytime you have with your dad, if possible. one day he'll not be around.

the photo tells a story, even if it's a sad one.

Well I find the image that I want, in this case a scorpion. I pull it into PS... carefully draw around it and eliminate everything that isn't scorpion. Then I played with the levels to change the color... applied a horizontal and vertical mirror plug-in (free on the web). I created the background I want and use Flaming Pear's "Flexify" (there's a free demo at flamingpear.com). I end up with the sphere and the scorpions inside... then I create a background for around the sphere. Plug-ins are my friend ;o) and there's lots of them on the web. Do a search for photoshop plug-ins and you'll see. Thanks for your comments Ed.

This is for Lori... I'm sorry if I offended you, I was just upset with my father. Lori is the woman who comes and helps with my dad, out of the goodness of her heart. She got a full-time job and therefore can no longer take care of my dad's showers. I posted before she had given me a reason, and I thought he (my father) was getting to her, and she couldn't take anymore of him. So, I'm sorry Lori... the anger wasn't aimed at you. You are the "one" person I could count on, and I'm sorry to see you go. Again, I apologize for any misunderstandings.
