Laura, thank you so much for the encouragement. It took me a bit to warm up to this photo in the stack from the roll, but I'm glad I shared it to get some really helpful feedback!
Laura and Cheryl you both are so right about their level. I've done that for years, but as I have been trying to get more experimental and more daring I'd LOST that basic. Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOO much for reminding me. I hadn't even noticed it in my photos until you pointed it out, I greatly appreciate it!

OH! I think you are RIGHT! If I'd hussled over farther to my left I could have caught the phone, maybe some expression and the woman in purple looking on.
She was on the phone. She was making the perverbial emergency cell phone call for the wedding that day. I was shooting some candids as out wedding gift to the couple.
Thank you both for your help. I might try cropping out the left woman and some of the head room to see if that helps this particular shot.

I'm not sure about a title, but I'm thinking along the lines of holding up the framework of the world, or Atlas (isn't he who carried the globe?), or the fragility of his life (b/c it is just the framework, not solid beams or walls...

I like the lighting as is for a beautiful, timeless, dramatic shot. If you want more of a traditional portrait then I'd go with more light. Did you overlay a texture? I like it.

The softness is due mostly to it being a "matte finish" print. And then also to having a poor quality scanner. It is sharper for the most part in person. The focal point being the space between them - tried to be a little poetic but it doesn't come across in the scan.

oh sorry... I meant a horizontal shot, but I like the curved line of the wall, gives the eye somewhere to go.

Nearby? I think a horizontal shot would emphasize the wall more dramatically.

Rachel thank you! I was trying out Tri-X Pan and I don't think I like it. I think I'm going to go back to Tmax400 Pro. I do like it better with the contrast.

I know you say this is her personality, so if you are asking which would work best for her main photo on this one too I'd also say the middle one. She looks the most her age and least provacative. She looks very "attractive" rather than trying to look sexy. I'm guessing she is trying to show attitude, but it comes off as trying to be sexy.

I see much of the same story as many of the other commenters. "I'm here; I'm ready to start this journey I've been brought into; won't you walk along side of me for just a little while as I get myself steadied? Show me where to walk; I want to learn to run. Cherish my tiny perfect purity now; it is a fleeting miracle."

Inevitably these places are so dark inside -- emotionally and in their color schemes. Interesting that you are choosing to use color. Makes me feel conflicted. The color draws me in and makes me glad there is/was a facility, but the image focus (the overturned beds) makes me sad. I like the soft windows and the visible streaming light.

This image definitely appeals to me, I think perhaps because of all the mars in the stone and how everything but the frame is in the same color family. Normally you'd expect the door to pop out, but here it is the frame, I like that unexpected quality.

Thanks for your help Aurore. I have been thinking of trying one of the more professional colors films when I use up what I have. (I know, I know trash what I have) I do get my film processed and printed at Ritz, no walmart for me in a LONG time except when I'm back home and my mom can't wait to see my snapshots. But real film with a decent chance of a decent shot I'll only take to Ritz (only professional/semi-professional lab I know of in Central MA --I don't want to haul myself to Boston just to drop off and pick up film.)
I have been wanting to try Portra VC and either NPH or NPS. I would have thought for indoors I would have wanted NPH, but I'm seeing a LOT of good results from other UF users in natural light indoors on the NPS, too. (I know, I know get both and try them) I think I used up the HQ200 and I *think* I have 3 rolls (24exp) of Gold200 left. I'm apprehensive of 400s, I always hear they don't enlarge well, but maybe that's b/c I've always been in the consumer lines.
I have purchased some Tri-X Pan 400 B&W b/c I was getting frustrated with my TMax 400. We'll see if I like the Tri-X any better.
Thanks for your feedback, both on liking the muted colors AND on the film.
