Melanie

As a lover of music and night time photography you have provided a "dream image" for yours truly.

Having attended both an Eagles concert in San Jose, California last October; and a John Mellancamp/Tom Fogerty joint venture in South Lake Tahoe in August of that same year, Donna and I relived our youth and your image just brings all those wonderful memories back to life.

Just a spectacular photo, and well worth further recognition by UF! A 7+++

Warm Regards,

Chuck & Donna Waters

Don't have a professional bone in my body but also aspire one day to producing some shots that someone could find a use for.
I remember (25 years ago Melanie) at high school people studying art history showing me triangles and oblongs drawn all over old paintings. It wasn't obvious to me then and even that part of The da Vinci code was beyond me, but I suspect structure is my growth area.
Don't know. Really had a passion for it for a while there but we're knew parents and everything gets kind of rough round the edges when that happens. :)
Here's a question, If you look at the start of folder what do you reckon you've learnt since then?.
Hmmm, not sure I can answer that for myself.

Hi Ian,

thanks very much for all your recent comments, and taking the time to have a good nose at my folio :)
As far as training is concerned, I did 4 years at Art school many moons! ago..bout 18 to be precise! Have been teaching myself as much as I can over the last year or two, and am trying to always improve, learn more and am aiming to make this more of a career than a hobby. How about yourself?

Wow. Keven's probably right but the nighttime is like this.
The arrangement of colours through the frame are so pleasing though. The sky reflected in the sea, the stones on the beach and how I can see the cliff is made of the same stuff. The tasty view INTO the water!
Mmm ,nice, I get a mouldy old beach, estuaries and stinky patches closed of by viaducts are great for that.
I think I'd learn a lot looking at here I'll come back but I'll take this for now. What's your background Melanie did you train?

Nicely aligned. There is a point where a photograph is a series of two dimensional blobs primary shapes but personally I can't arrange the three dimensional things like that. but I'm glad I can see it here in the green peninsula and the black and white process running along underneath it in the peer. Yes the colour is wonderful but it's that area beneath the hill that intrigues my eye.

I can hear this one. And for once a microphone stand in front of someones head that doesn't ruin a shot.

Nice enough sweeping forms but my eyes have spent a lot of time looking into the grasses below. The hilights there are gorgeous.
Love the algal greens on the beach. Give me a mouldy old beach anyday.

Yeah, this one too. Turn it over and see how it sings. This one might want some trimmed off the top and/or bottom too. Still though, this is excellent reflective work. Great reflections and good framing of the shot. Keep it up.

Excellent reflective work. I would turn them over though (I say this a lot). The image wants to be viewed in that orientation, yearns for it. Or maybe it's just me.

Nice silhoutte shot.. like the way the red light blended into the bright white shines from behind the guitarist. Live shoots are always fun to do because of the constantly varying lighting conditions. Always a new challenge :)
Best regards,
Niclas

Melanie, great capture... perfect exposure and depth. Well seen, almost as though inside the jaws of a giant creature as its about to swallow the sea. Wonderful wonderful composition :)

Cheers
