Petrosssss! Ye olde flash was tucked away in the underside of the desk, first aimed up at him, lil too eerie for the atmosphere i wanted, so i bounced it around in there and it gave a nice glow. I will also point out this image uses my favorite combo of aperture and shutter speed, it has this weird way of producing interesting shots? odd, i know... cheers!
ps. i will upload the film version (6x6)and you can see the eerie effect i was referring to...

This looks soooo much like my first ever apartment when I was a student! Where did you have the flash hidden? Was it under the desk? Or was is a desk lamp of some sort?

Nice pose and I like your crop. I think you could improve the shot if you has a wee bit more light on the dark side of his face. A reflector would help here.

I like the shaft of light being visible, but with this lighting, it's almost as if the make-up kit is your subject.
