Thanks, Darlene. That means a lot coming from great photographers like you. A good way to get great colors is to spend a lot of time messing with the WB and really getting to know what each setting does. Here's a great trick for sunsets I've found - use the flash WB setting for sunsets or anytime you want to boost the reds. I use that trick quite a bit.

Gorgeous composition and those colors are so beautiful and I've always had trouble with them, but you nailed them perfectly! Great image Morgan!

You know those plastic sheets they put on beds in hotel rooms - believe it or not, they do them for keyboards too. I think they were designed for frequent coffee spillers, but I'm sure they'll work for anyone who uses their keyboard as a TV tray...
I sussed it out in the end - and managed to distress my sister nicely (I mentioned this pic in my about), after scanning in some dog eared card.
Thank you for your help, and I am impressed with your culinary spelling skills

like vivid and fresh colors here and intriguing shapes of this flower; I wish only there were no obstacles in the background (in the bottom part of the shot)

Would've replied sooner, Sally but I spilled teriyaki sauce all over my keyboard and the space bar isn't working at the moment... The way I got the effect was by desaturating the photo a bit and adding a bit of yellow to simulate the aging process. I also added a bit of noise (monochrome, gaussian), but not too much. Hope that helps! If you need any more advice don't hesitate to drop me a comment or e-mail.

Thanks for the response!
I had a go back in June at doing the brush thing - please take a look at:
http://www.usefilm.com/image/834352.html
I can manage a decent border - it's the 'inside' bit I'm struggling to age - what am I doing wrong?

Yep. Take some white paper or card stock, splatter some paint or other liquidy-like substance on it, scan it in, define it as a brush and use it on either the burn, dodge, sponge, or paintbrush tool. There are many brushes online, but many are meant only for private use (why bother sharing them with the public if you're not gonna share with the public?). You can also take old pictures and mess with the levels to increase the contrast of a B&W or datureated photo and get some neat effect brushes that way, as well. Happy brushing!

Hi Morgan,

The DOF is perfect on this one. All the keys are in focus. Nice.

The response from Leanne did throw for a minute!
How do I go about creating the same effect - I guess you've scanned in some grungey, droplety things - but how do you apply them to the picture?
