Robert,

overexposure is something one must learn to see ('read' would almost be a better word).

Film, and digital cameras as well, do not have the same lattitude as our eyes. People can differentiate about 10-13 f-stops, film about 5-7, digital cameras about 7.

It takes practice, but you have access to a digicam, if it's not in use.

I force myself to check it while shootng, but regularly I forget to check....with bad results.

'But it's the journey that makes it worth it...'
So, I keep practicing.

And, Linn will be able to help making these ones better in the near PS future. (better, not perfect, that is)

When I saw the tumbnail, it didn't attract me at first, but I had to had a peek a bit later. Then, I got confused. Yes, I thought it was reall.
Now? Now I feel dumb for not seeing it a statue.

Both of you, stop messing with my brains! ;-)

A 7 for the fun,

Jeroen

Emgy, just a load of fun we had :-) Title should actually be "Mock Elephant in Mock Charge"

This cast is in the centre of a large teagarden. You should have seen the looks Robert got from the young waiters - they didn't have a clue what he was up to. I suppose they thought he was nuts shooting an image from the ground up, instead of just facing it and taking the shot

First time I saw the elephant I just knew I wanted a shot like that :-)

If you can use mannequins in your images, so can I ! It was fun pretending though, and this statue at the Safari Nursery in Pretoria presented an opportunity too tempting to miss. Robert

I must admit I hadn't noticed how bright the background was when I took the shot, probably because my prescription specs darken in bright sunlight. I'll have to pay attention to that in future. Regards, Robert

This is a lovely one.
Amazing animals. I've seen lots of them in the Swan River (Perth), their natural habitat. Beautiful and very interesting swans. I like the way you captured this one, Robert. Very nice pose, excellent details. The colours are awesome and the lighting very good.
Wonderful shot!

Is it real or is it a statue????
It doesn't look a real one to me!
I can't stop laughing thinking of you and Linn rolling on the grass to get cloe to this Big Boy.

Hi Robert
overexposed part is difficult to solve in ps.
You should underexpose more in this picture, meaning expose for the highlights and than lighten up in ps.

It looks like the last coat of paint was prior to 1954 judging by the licence discs! I think it could do with some oil at least so it can last another 50 years :-). Robert
