Very nice macro! We've got (almost) the same camera.
You can try putting a looking glass or better yet a 50mm f/2.8 objective lens in front of your camera, for even better macro performance. For a few examples you can take a look at my photos.

I glanced through your portfolio, Richard. Very eclectic, with emphasis on line and form, color and contrast. Bonjour.

What a fine image, Richard. I like that close view, it feels more 'connected' than the traditional long lens from a distance. Excellent close cropping. I might have cropped some more off the bottom, to neutralize some of the wide-angle emphasis on her closer hand. This one has great lighting, in contrast with some of your other night images, that are a little grainy.

Richard,
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do this ... but I can't find anything on the portal which says I shouldn't ... I'm looking for images for a new book on digital close up photography. Liked yours. If interested, could you email me on sarah@newinvention.plus.com and I can send you more info.

Can't find your email details anywhere on the web, hence this note. Hope it's not out of order ... if it is maybe someone would let me know? Thanks! Sarah

Great shot with nice close composition and beautiful expression. I think you were very close to the subjects heer and there is a little too much perspective on the girls face, sort of distorting it slightly. Still great eyes and nice to frame.

Gerhard,
I sat in front of the tripod, as my assistant periodically covered the open lens, allowing me to change hand positions without excessive blurring. Thanks for your comment.
