I know the message of a portrait is distributed evenly along the entire face of the person portrayed. Eyes, smile, hair... it is all important.
Ears dont tend to be emphasized often...
Having said that, somehow I think including BOTH EARS in this close up portrait would have been a very good idea, contributing to the overall balance of the portrait.

Fabulous capture! love the lighting on the water and the detail of the boat and people on it. this is a different perspective in that the water is accentuated as much as the background images. many would advise you to crop it a bit, but I think it adds great dimension to this image.
