very nice typically chinese shot niclas. unfortunately, old architecture in china doesnt seem to be valued much, unless it has the potential to draw in tourist money. most of the buildings that look like this will probably be gone throughout most of china in less than 20 years. however, the farther away from population centres like nanjing that you go, the better the chances of finding such buildings.

best wishes. james

nice shot of life in china, but i agree that it could use a bit of contrast.

nice shot of daily life in tibet, but a bit blurry to my eye. could use some sharpening i think.

a good portrait and a nice capture of daily life in that area of the world. i've also been busy doing portraits in china, and would like to see this one in black and white.

i agree with lukasz, it could use a bit more colour. depending on what time of year you visit yangshuo, sunlight (lack of it in wintertime) can be a problem.

hi jaap.... this photo could potentially be much better. i just find it not sharp enough and the framing (cutting off the right side) distracting. the sky also looks slightly overexposed.

Nice to see that someone else on Usefilm shares my interest in the minority peoples of China. I have similar portraits in my portfolio, in black and white. Different effect but still the same beauty as we see here.

Warmest regards.... james

hello wez barber. i like the idea and you can find a similar photo in my portfolio as well. i like the concept, lily in water, but for my taste it's just a shade too green. howver, still a nice photo.

i like the photo and did similar things myself a few years ago with barbed wire. might be nice to see a rusty spot or two on the wire or else zoom in on the wire a bit more to make it a more visible element in the frame.

Hi Karina.... thanks for the comment. Actually I intended for the background to be blurred. A blurred background has a strong effect in this type of photo.

Hi Kambiz.... it might be a bit overexposed, however I had to take this shot quickly. This man was only in a good position for a split second and I knew it was now or never. One of those times when you just hit the shutter button and hope for the best.

Hi Hugo.... I did go up to the Peak, you can see a daytime shot of the view that I recently uploaded. However, I went there for night photography and there was a lot of cloud, as usual. The photos didn't turn out the way I had hoped but I'll put one of them online later today, just for some critique.

i recognized it as masada as soon as i saw it. i did this climb in the smmer of 1993 myself. quite hot as i remember. the shadows represent those who didnt live to tell the story.... nice representation.

hi braden. i think this has potential to be a very nice shot. however, in my opinion, just straighten out the horizon a bit, watch the lighting, and saturate the colours a little bit, if you're so inclined. perhaps move the hotel out of the centre as well.

best wishes ~ james

No keys necessary Braden. The idea is to inscribe something on the lock, put the lock into place, and throw the key overboard.

this is a very, very nice photo. the setting is breathtaking and i truly wish i could visit this type of place someday. the only part i dont care for much is the buildings in the foreground, however i realize that the shot may be impossible to make otherwise. very sharp, very clear, and nice colours. very well done....

you do indeed have a lot of nice B & W portraits of lovely models in your portfolio. hard to choose just a few to comment on, many of them are nicely done. keep up the good work.

i like your image "sole" but i prefer this one as the snow adds something to the photo that the other one lacks. a glistening sun high in the wintry alps surrounded by nature is one of the greatest treasures we can enjoy.

a nice shot, but i think it would be much improved on if the hand was removed from the shot. the stubble on the man's chin would add a new texture to the photo. my opinion only....

nice shot alison. i must start looking for more flowers to do macro shots of.

i've looked at a lot of your recent photos, and it looks like you're really getting close to nature on a regular basis. nice to see....

nice shot from the peak hugo. this is precisely the same look i'll be going for when i go to hong kong later this week. unfortunately it looks a bit too cloudy here in shenzhen right now, and the weather here is often the same in hong kong. hopefully it will improve soon as i'm running out of time.
