a nice shot of a nice city. you did well to make the thick glass on the chopper not noticable. i actually thought you had taken it with the door open.

very clear and clenly done shot.

interesting historical shot. with respect to the text in the bottom left of your frame, i think better to leave it out. the photo speaks for itself.

best wishes. james

hugo, how do you reduce the colour temperature and what effect would that have on this photo?

regarding this photo, its very nicely done. nice colour, nice lighting, and very cleanly presented.

good work. james

i have some similar photos in my portfolio, some taken from kowloon looking over to HK, and a few from the peak as well. while shooting photos from the peak, i encountered a similar problem. seems that HK weather is very fickle.... keep trying. i might suggest start shooting early in the evening, while the sun is still up and keep shooting as the sun goes down and then after its gone. see what happens.

best wishes. james

looks similar to the jinmao tower in shanghai. i've been to bangkok many times but never inside this hotel. must have to search it out when i go back... and have a look. nice work.

its a great idea but i think a one or two of the shots have less than optimum lighting (specifically centre left), and at top right the insect is in a poor position, these two points weaken your composition. i think with a few corrections, this image/idea could be much improved.

best wishes. james

its a nice photo of this rental shack, but i think we need something of interest here to focus on. even if it were just a person sitting on the side or standing on the edge or something.

its a different shot thats for sure. one thing i might suggest is to put some kind of border around the edge of the photo. it looks a bit shoddy the way its done right now. and i would do away with that the white background as well. what is it anyway?

in this photo, you should have included more of the fountain and less of the building. or more of both by moving back a little bit. the results would have been much better in my opinion. you should try to include the settings for your camera as well, it can help those who critique your photos to help you improve them.

well, the main thing to note here is that i just find the subject uninteresting. in this case, maybe converting to black and white and upping the contrast and brightness a little might make it more appealing, but really i think you should have framed the bench in another way, and maybe eleiminated the rock as well.

i came to this shot from the link in another fork photo. nicely done here as well. amazing what one can do with something as simple as a fork. a great idea that has been duly recognized.

its a lovely photo, and congratulations on this award. however, as one member already pointed out, the horizon is off. always happens when taking shots like this, and easily corrected in PS.

interesting shot (different angle to be sure) with a little bit of illusion in there. your portfolio overall is quite nice. glad i could have a look at some of it.

it's a very simple image but it has good depth of field and i think, with the appropriate caption might be something to hang on the wall. a nice photo.

i'm just thinking now that there must be a different rail company operating between hong kong and mainland china than china rail. that would explain the difference in uniforms, prices, service and other things. within mainland china, its all different.

hi joel.... dont know where you've been in china yet, but the little towns are a million miles from anywhere we're used to. when you visit again, make sure to go to the far west, and the southwest. those are the regions least affected by the rapid development of china these days.

on another note, i'm wondering who that young lady works for. that isnt the standard uniform for china rail, which is dark blue and with a different hat and badges.

hong kong and china, while (now) part of the same country, are worlds apart. but getting closer by the day. regarding the trains in china, the differences between hard seat and soft sleeper on different trains are also worlds apart, within the same country even.

i prefer the black and white version myself. just evokes feelings of a different time and place to me when done in this way. more simplistic and effective in my opinion.

hi ferran. as hugo says, very nice presentation here and the different colours do indeed express different moods. this is something i could see hanging on someone's wall at home.

i've been to the desert (in china) and will be back there again next month, so this photo of yours has given me a new idea that i can try to work with.

well done. james

there are few things i enjoy more in life than riding a bike. a good shot of the criterium here, and a nice blur effect. only thing i could suggest is just to have waited a second longer to get the cyclists a bit closer. it can be difficult to do tho..... and probably one of the reasons i have no cycling photos in my portfolio.

nice to see this shot here.
