Very cool idea, I love the colors you have here. The leaf on the right is a bit distracting to me. Maybe postition the vase (or trim the flower) so you can only see the leaves through the red liquid.

A very interesting story here, Ken. I like this shot. The crop is a little tight on the lad, making the boat appear as the main subject to me. Still an very good shot.

Hey Lynn thanks for the comment. This is an awesome shot. You will do wonders with the camera.
Don't give the camera all the credit, for it is you who points the camera in the direction of all those amazing things we often overlook.
I like what you got have your portfolio thus far, I see a good eye.

As I was walking up to the carnival I did a handheld, 1/4 sec shot from the parking lot. I actually got some better technical shots with the ride still and the moon showing through the ride but at 5M with the shot resized one couldn't tell it was the moon. So I went for the abstract.
If you get a chance and want to have some fun reshoot this one:

I was shooting my wife looking into the duck pond but when I came back and looked at it, I seen all those mindless little bots floating about and thought of my workplace. It is a cool concept but the shot I took when cropped and blown up was poor quality. Get in close to those ducks.

Cool shot, I love the lights on these rides, tough to shot though.
I guess these guys (buck carnivals) don't get far out of town do they? I went to possibly the same carny people in Mira Mesa back in March and played around shooting the same ride.

The Lens weighs just a bit more than the camera alone, I nice strap (better than the one in the package) helps. I found a nice rubberized strap that I got a while back and it seems to do nicely. The nice thing with this is that you can really get your hand around the lens and feel comfortable when shooting. The adapter has a tripod mount that works well.
We couldn't pass on the Oly 5000Z, we was in bestbuy it was on sale for 329.00 and had a 70 dollar rebate. We picked it up for Shawn http://www.usefilm.com/member/mrs_paw/ She has been having a lot of fun with it. IMO it takes very nice picture but after using the menus on the Powershot S50 and Pro1, I get confused with the Oly and Throw out half my pics. Shawn is getting it down. Really it is a budget Oly 5050.

That's correct, I use Microsoft Digital Image Pro 9. It is very user friendly. Anyone can use it right out of the box and start doing basic to intermediate post work. Once you use it a bit one can go completly nuts with it. It doesn't have curves like PS, but uses histograms for doing levels. Hue/Staturation, remove blemish, dodge/burn and tons of filters are all there. My wife started using it and was doing intermediate edits in just a couple of hours.

Thanks George, I'd like to see what the softbox for 420 performs. Doing the makeshift thing is starting to get a little tideous.
Also, thanks for Nelson Photo tip, I've made the mistake of going to George's off University twice now knowing the people aren't too digital camera friendly there...the one guy won't even talk to you if he knows you have a digital.

The only time that you would want to use a flash when shooting the moon is when you to want illuminate something in the foreground, backs of peoples heads looking up at the moon, a tree that is near to you, a street sign etc. A lot of times people will add something like that to give the shot depth, something for the viewer to guage where the moon is.

I capture detail of the moon using 1/60 Sec. at F/6.3, a lot of times. It is all about the tweaking the shutter and aperture.
I shoot in Tv mode so I can tweak the shutter speed. spot meter on the moon, and the camera should pick an aperture that is close.
Start with shutter between 1/30secs and 1/60 secs. with an aperture of F/5.6.
If the moon is still too hot I will go to full manual mode and adjust the shutter/aperture myself. When you get close you can use +/- Exposure compensation to fine tune the detail.
Every night the moon is different, last night I had and Orange moon here and I had to leave the shutter open longer and stop down the aperture a bit.
On a very bright night I will increase the shutter speed. This is 1/160sec., F/5.6 with spot metering on the moon, tripod, no flash.

It was a full size. This guy here up in the air. We could get pretty close to tarmac at this show.
The full shot of this one came out quite nice but was framed using the whole 8MP. 3264x2448 does not like to be resized into and 800x800 area, too many jaggies not worth posting here.
I like your shot here, great dof.

I use Microsoft's (Picture it!) Digital Image Pro 9. It is a very user friendly program that one doesn't have to get a degree to use. It has enough power to be dangerous though.
In DIP9 under the effects menu is Edges > Photostroke... that has a bunch of Photo type stuff to use as frames, bamboo just happens to be one of the choices.

The virgo in me sees the bottle/table leaning just a tad bit to the left. Probably just me, but I'm weird that way. If used as a stock photo/poster some people notice those things.

I see what you mean, I either should have not gone so far or went a little further so that it completely looked like art (paintingish) where it is now the rocks do look painted but the water photograhpic. Thanks for the comment.
The Pro1 is an awesome camera, I think there is something to that "L" series glass that they use in this prosumer. Colors are just unbelievable on this thing. I've had it for a month now and am in aw of what it can do. I got a 420EX flash for it and now I'm set for quite a while.

Excellent shot Bill, all your macros are crisp and clear. I like the leaf in this shot as it adds balance and dof. I don't know why but the bit of shadow on the leaf (not the stem) just below the bottom petal keeps popping out at me.
Awesome detail on the flower. Great Job.

Thanks Kevin, if you like the interesting mundane stuff check out www.99rooms.com , I stumbled on to it the other day on the net. It is kind of a game (you have to click stuff to get to the next room 99 of them) that are photos (turned to art) taken in an abandoned warehouse. I liked the work there so much that I wanted to try something similar. Very cool, very macabre .

Very nice shot and a lovely lady. The image itself seems a little noisey to me. It looks like you had plenty of light so I can not tell just where the noise was generated. High ISO? Maybe you applied it on purpose?
When I have a shot that has a tad bit of noise I use NoiseWare Community Edition (free) it is program much like Neatimage noise reduction software. Noiseware Community Edition (free one) can be found at http://www.imagenomic.com/ and is very easy to use.
I hope you don't mind but this is the same picture with default noise reduction settings in Noiseware applied. The skin and bricks are much smoother, adding to the dream like effect that you added with the soft edges filter.
Just my thoughts.
