Excellent work. Love the model's pose although it bothers me that you cut off the top of her hair. Best wishes. John B

No sir, but I have been letting my inner artist out of his cage for good behavior. I am enjoying astro-photography but want to get more than just millions of dots on the paper. Sorry I haven't been on much, just one of those life cycle things I guess. Thanks for commenting Ian.

Roger - your reportage from Japan defines for me, the concept of a 'different' culture. I don't comment on each of your images but trust me when I say that so many of them leave me scratching my head asking what the heck!

Mary Sue - be not ashamed, be happy that if you choose, you now have an excuse to go back to take more/better shots! Warning for the faint of heart. The camera location is on the Marin head lands at the edge of a precipitous drop off. If you are afraid of heights or are mobility challenged this is not a happy place. There are no lights so a good flashlight is highly recommended for your return tot he car after dark. It is also exposed to the best that S.F.'s wind and rain can offer. Good luck, I for one plan to go back! john B

Thank you Abhik. As I become older, I see fewer and fewer things as 'perpetual'. In this image, the rains have gone and returned many times now. Ice has hidden the water and the mountains are slowly becoming sand. What is perpetual is the feeling this image captured and that is a lie! I was very rushed on this visit with only 10 minutes to make this and other images. I am afraid my spirituality was very poor at the time. Thanks for commenting.

This image is full of contradictions and I have not made up my mind as to whether I like it or just loath it. On the technical level it is way way over sharpened. So much so it becomes a caricature of itself and in so doing becomes acceptable in a way. The young lady clearly has had a very hard life and is less than a classic beauty, yet she has her dignity/illusions and is wearing earrings. The cigarette indicates available spending money but her sweater is worn through at the shoulders suggesting a frugal life style. The expression is both sad and angry, suggesting she was not happy with your attention. A strong image that repulses me. While not my cup of tea I accept your desire to create and publish it. I still find your work amazing Ian. In an attempt to tap the spirit space that I imagine you wander in I have just posted a work that was partially inspired by you and the foggy mists we see in your work. That is hard to do in desert.

Gaetan Having lived in NY and fished the islands I think that it can be said that there is no need for Predator UAVs. The mosquitos are more than sufficiently dangerous and some now carry black flies under their wings! The black flies in turn carry no-see-ums or 'punkies'.. Now THATS hellfire! I think I saw this island once when I was up there with my father-in-law fishing. I could enjoy living there if not for the winter and the flies! There is something to be said for living in the desert. cheers and thanks for reminding me how nice our border is! John B
