Like Roger, I feel the position of the hands is rather unusual.

I took a renewed interest in this type of image after reading the Da Vinci Code. I almost lost that interest after seeing the terrible movie that came after the book.
But back to this photo, very nicely done. It does have some sense of mystery about it. I like it.

Thanks, Len. I like your suggestion. It did occur to me back when I was preparing this image, but I went against my own best advice:-( and was too committed to preserving the aspect ratio. I will take your advice and re-crop this image.

What an interesting shot! The shadows add to the overall effect.
(I would have been tempted just to crop the left and right sides just a little to create the effect of a natural frame.)

It certainly goes without saying that the anonymous individuals whose work built, maintained and restored this and other similar edifices around the world is simply amazing and goes unsung everyday. What came as news to me on my trip was the fact that Hugo's Les Miserables actually inspired a small boy to study architecture so that he could lead the restoration of Notre Dame.

I'm always most impressed by the great number of anonymous people who had indirect roles in building, maintenance and restoration of this magnificent Cathedral. There are many thousands and do not forget all faithful souls over centuries who donated and were willing to put their entire fortune in this.

I've had the same problem too. Hence, this time I tried "painting with light" by:
a)using a long exposure that would still underexpose in available light alone; and
b)manually firing off my hand-held flash at low power from different directions
This is one of my rare "staged" photos. I normally prefer to shoot fast, hand-held and candid.

It turns out the "iguanas" on the Galapagos Islands are iguanids, but not "true" iguanas! Also, these beasts are supposed to be mainly herbivorous. Wait till I show the rest of this guy.
I've never had octopus dumplings, but fried whole mini octopus in Italy was absolutely delicious. Also, octopus sashimi is something I could go for.
As for iguana, I'll bet it "tastes like chicken" :-)

Ha, ha! This time I thought you had been to the Galapagos islands... So they have these beasts in Florida? In prehistoric times THEY probably hunted US! So I don't feel too bad about them being hunted for food. Can't say I fancy the idea myself, though... hot octopus dumplings are about my limit.
