A nicely composed image with great symbolism and with a lot of potential but I agree with Scott that it's probably over processed (for me).

I really dont see a photo as much as digital artwork.
The symbolisum of the sun just above the bird seems indicative toward afterlife or similar.
Those lines made by water really add a depth of tranquility over the sun whilst at the same time dramatically changing the appearance of the fallen bird.
Technically it would be a good idea toning down the edit marginally has lost the integrity of the photographic truth and so seems at least to me to have lost its point.mainly due to the bird type being unrecognisable in a sea of noise.
The seperate feather also distracts marginally though may add a sense of truth.

That rock looks so out of place. It is so different from the surrounding shapes and textures, and also because of the way it is lit. All this makes it really stand out.

The inclusion of the industrial building on the left seems a bit odd to me.

But still a very nice photo, well deserving of the PoD award!

I am going back to this picture with great pleasure Kimmy; I had to think a little bit when I had seen it for the first time (and know I am ready :-);

really lovely composition - it is perfect; by tightened the composition you led the eyes to be busy all the time
the lights on the hill in the background is really wonderful - it is a good counterbalance for the darker foreground and keeps the eyes busy;
I like the line of fans you captured as well - they naturally leads to the red background;
the only thing I would change is a frame; it is distracting a little bit my eyes, I would soften it;
anyway, really good shot and I like it
regards
Lukasz
