I also had to chance to shoot a portrait holding an umbrella(you may see in my portfolio)but this one seems much way better.I beleive the reason is that the model is placed in 1/3rd of the frame from both sides and she has a strong look coming though out the screen.

dear robert
i think your portfolio has a very strong topic especially about the people and life in ethiopia.i am sure the days are very hot and the sun is really burning.but in my opinion the use of sunlight in some of your photos are very direct and strong.This one is not one of them.here the unusal cropping,softer light,details of the body(the breats and the lips) and the jewellery are giving big clues about the women and about their culture at the area you visited.Thanks for sharing.I beleive that you deserve to have more comments on your work!

this is really a perfect shot.how you managed to have light so good especially on the fish at the bottom left. id like to dive but i have some problems with my ears so if i ever visit the great barrier reef i ll choose your way to explore underwater life.

i allways find it hard to take photos when its snowy.this one couraged me to do so.i recently learned that pros ,while measuring light during shooting snowy landscapes ,take the light reflected from their hands to have better results.
