Eric, this is cropped quite a bit from a bigger image. The 100-400mm L glass is very sharp and made a big crop possible. Sharpened some more with USM.

Kristina, the window through which I took this shot acted like a warming filter and created that pinkish tone you see. I might have spent more time correcting it in PS.

Excellent! What a pose, and such interesting extreme look in the eyes! Very beautiful and original! Neck is so long, and the expression is almost like if it would be a hawk!

This is lovely too! A very cute pose! But isn't it just a little bit to much pink in colour tones? I especially feel it when I look at the fir on it's belly.

Oh it's so sweet and gorgeous! I love this closeness and beautiful posing! Lovely details, colours and focusing! Really super! Also very interesting to read about the photo!

The reflection of the window in the eye gives a special original glare in them that looks really cool!

My eye tends to wander on this image never settling on one item. There are a couple things you should consider to improve your photograph.

1. The rope is extremely interesting, particularly with it's texture in this lighting. Yet it take my eye out of the frame as it is composed.
2. The horizon is at the half way point of your frame vertically speaking. The detail is in the foreground, with your exposure settings, and the sky really doesn't add to the image as it starts to blow out.

My recommendation in this type of situation would be to experiment with your composition and focus on the elements in your image that benefit from this great lighting. The grasses, rocks and rope really have a lot of detail and a tighter image on these areas might make for a stronger photograph. Even consider changing to a portrait format and use your wide angle lens to capture more of the foreground and less of the sky.

Stephen, thank you for your kind comments. I think you will really love the 10D, but be careful because you might become addicted to "L" glass. Those L lenses are billiant, but expensive.

Vibrant colors and 3-D textures set this image apart. The eye follows the rope and is not disappointed.

Such a simple scene yet it came out great.... like the lighting.. good work. thanks for the comment on my "what??" photo. Yeah, wish I could have gotten his feet in the image but not much I could do with the fence they have at the top of the empire state building..
