Yes, you´re right - it´s Mr. Smith; one of my favourite Actors... (just joking ;-)

thanks Avi; of course the 3 know about the picture and title (and find it quite funny) otherwise i wouldn´t have used it!
...unfortunately i can´t tell you what the "actor" thinks about it - but i don´t mind ;-)
best
Tom

Thanks very much, i´m recognizing more and more that feelings are more on a "fuzzy" way than a sharp one ;-)

...ihre Hände sagen "will raus aus allem"
aber der Blick sagt "zu spät"
leise und stark zugleich, sehr intensiv!

Grüße
Tom

P.S: das Bild lässt sich auf unglaublich viele Arten interpretieren; mich interessiert, ob das Matchbox + Teddi von ihr kam?

Thanks Avi;
that used to be the gate when the pier was fully intact - the spikes (circle) should keep people away from getting behind...

Thx everybody!
@Doyle:
i had to "close" the picture somehow but maybe the darkroom - vignetting is a bit overdone (?)
it´working better on the print ;-)

Hoya Giuliano!
Thanx! - yup, you get nice balanced tones by shooting Tri-x at 250 ASA and developing shorter - and also good details in the shadows... I use Mörsch "Finol" which is very easy to use but D-76 1:1(about 9min.) will also do it..

I only use filters when shooting landscape (red, graduation and sometimes a heavy grey filter to get long-exposure times;

I use Fomatone Baryt for Portraits and Fomabrom Baryt and Sepia - Toning for landscape; but MC111 is also very good!

I use single graduations but mostly different graduations when burning in some parts of the picture...

...wow, really many questions; I´ll need a break ;-)

hoya Avi, you´re welcome to post your thoughts
- i appreciate your honesty.
...it´s sure a matter of taste; for me the moving clouds adds a lot of dynamic and "contrast" to the rocks - like facing the flowing of time knowing that nothing, not even the "strongest" rocks will withstand this flowing...
regards
Tom

P.S: it´s like my picture: tranquility which wouldn´t be that interesting for me without the movements of the boats

thx, your comments mean much to me;
in this series i tried to get the spiritual and human
themes in focus...

...thank you some much Avi!
Yeah, i enjoy the "classic" way...
(never been happy with my digital-b/w work)
It´s such a good feeling to have the finished baryte-print in hands :-)

thanks Marco!
well, the tone is a combination of a neutral-tone baryte paper and sulfide toning; the trick is to tone only the lighter parts of the picture by bleaching only a short time.

Great! - yeah, you can feel his presence; the composition is as clear and smooth as the tones - very good printing!
regards
Tom

PS: how´s the plus x compared to tri-x ?
(finer grain of course but what about contrast and tones?)

P.S: damn, i´ve been in Dunsborough few months ago but i missed this one - would´ve been perfect for some nice b/w...

Wow, thanx Mirek! I´m happy when people have a closer look and getting into the pictures.
- i also had Dali in mind; mother nature creates those surrealistic moments i´m looking for...

- the darkroom work was quite easy, some dogding and burning (i think the red-filter did most of the job making this picture ;-)

...excellent! superb framing and the strange angel works very well; the halo and his appearance makes it
somehow "biblical" ;-)
btw is Paolo some kind of priest?

Tom

P.S: the tonal value is great; looks analog?!

yes, nice one! good composition; the tones could be better accented, there are too many midtones (a bit grey in grey), and maybe also a bit burning and dodging to lead the view.

...like Jordi; - her expression is great, good moment;
the tones are good, imo her eyes need a bit dodging
