Thanks Dave! I didn't use any lenses other than the camera lens itself, and I didn't use a flash.

What a fantastic macro with a nice DOF, great colors and sharpness! There does seem to be a bit of overexposure on the wood, rock, or whatever that is he's sitting on, but otherwise very well done!

Beautiful! Nice and sharp with good composition and great colors. The only thing I find disturbing is the branch right in front of the bird, but otherwise a fantastic shot.

Nice photo with a good composition and colors. There does seem to be a bit of a glare (especially in the upper mid section) that could easily be taken care of with a polarizer.

Wow, what a fantastic shot! I love how it looks like a mother bird watching over her nest, simply wonderful! BTW everything else is great too, but the hidden image (intentional or not) really hit me when I first opened it.

Wonderful portrait! The only thing I have a problem with is the lighting. It's far too bright on the right side of the photo and it really shows in her hair and hand.

Fantastic photo, I like this one a lot better than the first one! That tree is very eerie, I keep waiting for it to walk up the path after someone that went by only moments before. And the wonderful lighting only adds to the atmosphere. IMO this is pure evil, mystical, magical, whatever you want to call, but wonderfully captured!

Great shot of a very difficult flower to get! I tried to get the inside of this color of foxglove once, and it was a flop. The focus is a bit off and I would love to see a straight shot of the center, but otherwise well done!

Very nice! Wonderful composition, and I love the cloudy night sky! The only thing I find a bit distracting is the bright light off to the right under the willow tree.

Wonderful! I love the crop, not too low on the face, and the sunglasses that add a bit of mystery to this person!

Nice photo with lovely colors and great reflection! I would have loved to have seen it without the winch and rope in the foreground or even as Julie suggested with just the winch and rope in focus.

Nice photo, with really good composition, and I love the clouds in the sky! I agree with Dreten though, I don't think I much care for the sepia effect in this one either, and I'm not so sure about the star filter. I would however love to see it in color and with perhaps a bit more detail in the shadowed part. Maybe in color with a little more detail the star filter would be a nice effect.

Wonderful, what a find! Love the composition and the lighting! I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty to turn it into sepia tone, which IMO makes it looks even better than the B&W.

Very beautiful photo! Great lighting on such a difficult subject, with beautiful colors and detail! I would have liked to have seen his head up and to the side a bit more, but it's still a wonderful capture!

Ed welcome, this is a very beautiful picture, sort of reminds me of Benji. IMO this would look great on a jigsaw puzzle. The only problem I find are that although I like the bright halo effect through the fur, it's just a tad too bright.

I agree I would also like to see more detail in the shadows, right now it's just a bit too dark. Otherwise it's a very beautiful image.

What did this guy eat to make him glow like that?! He's a little soft around the edges, but it's a really good photo and a very hard one to capture with such low light.

Mark can you give us something that is at least critiqueable?! Personally I can't find anything wrong with or anything I don't like about your bug/insect photos, well except maybe the subject itself, but even then you have a way of making them look beautiful. Well done!

Michael, I can honestly say it with everyone else, WOW! IMO you have achieved perfection with this one, I only wish I had taken it!

Marilia thank you, and you're right it would have been a lot better with the entire reflection at the bottom. Unfortunately the line where the table opens for an extension would have shown had I pulled back.

Russ thank you. It's nice to know the good points of a photo, but according to the ratings you gave there were obviously some not so good points. Can you elaborate on the not so good points and tell me why they make it not so good?

What you did get is very nice! There do seem to be a couple of hot spots on the caterpillar, and that leaf in front is very distracting, but otherwise well done.

Nice photo! The only thing I can suggest would be to try this again on a cloudy day. It would get rid of the shadows around her head and may liven up her eye by adding catch lights.

After trying to shoot living balls of fluff like these I know it's not an easy task, but I must say that you did wonderfully! Usually I don't care to see the water line cut through any part of the body with shots similar to this, but for some reason it just seems to fit here. It does seem a bit dark to me and I would love to see the one duck turned a bit more so his backside isn't to the camera, but otherwise a wonderful job.

Thanks Mark! I have my monitor calibrated with Adobe Gamma and although it makes it brighter than the factory settings it didn't make it bright enough to see the lines. After upping the brightness considerably I can see them and will fix them.

Mark this is an excellent example of a fantastic macro shot! Not only is the diagonal composition very pleasing to the eye, but the detail and clarity are wonderful. The DOF is very short not leaving anything in the background to distract the eye from your subject. I also love how the light makes colors dance in the wings! I think we could all learn a lot from you on macro shooting.

Great job on this one! I love the pastel colors of both building and sky, and as mentioned already the clarity is wonderful! The only thing I find a bit distracting is the metal bar dead center.

Thank you both!

Colin, he definitely has beautiful colors, it's just hard to get him to look good on film with them. However, I will admit this is one of his better color photos. Usually he ends up goofy looking and not quite right like you can see in the one I'm attaching.

Jocelyne, I don't think it's your monitor, or else it's both of our monitors. He is a little too bright in the chest, but that comes from the bright light from window that was only 5 inches away. Any ideas on how to prevent overexposure in one area while preventing underexposure in another when a bright light source is that close?

What a wonderful close-up! I love the detail in this photo, and I had no idea that butterflies were so hairy! About the only thing I would have done was give him a tad extra room at the bottom.

LOL funny you should say celebrity as we named him Diva (before we discovered he was a he) for his wonderful singing ability. But thank you, I will keep shooting him even though it has become increasingly difficult since the sepia picture was taken (he's no longer content to play with his toys, he now wants to play with you and the camera).
