Kevin,
Very good capture, especially for an afocal image. Good contrast for a full moon. Try snapping a few near a quarter phase when there are more shadows to bring out the craters.

Guido,
Piggyback means that the camera is attached to the outside of the telescope tube using its own lens, and not the telescope's optics. The telescope's motor tracks the sky, and the photographer guides the telescope during the exposure keeping a guide star on the crosshairs of a reticle eyepiece. The telescope needs to have its right ascension axis aligned parallel to the earth's polar axis to prevent field rotation. If the alignment is not accurate, then the image has trails centered on the guide star.

Rafael,
The red is the color captured by the film, though it was a bit fainter on the film since my exposure wasn't long enough. I am not really happy with my processing of this image as it appears artificial. I am more concerned about the density of stars, as this image should have the Milky Way in the background.

Guido,
Yes, the star in the center of the circles is Polaris. It is not exactly at the North Celestial Pole, so it also trails in an arc. But it is a very small arc compared to the rest of the sky.

Juliano,
A smaller aperture and longer exposure could have gotten you more lines of lights. These types of shots are usually exposed for at least 30 seconds...

A cute image. The only negative is that annoying foot at the top of the image. One could clone it out in Photoshop. I can't suggest cropping, since the image is cropped well otherwise.

Melissa,
This is a great wedding photo. The only suggested improvement I could think of is a polarizer to minimize the reflection on the car body of the bride's legs. I like the composition, especially the placement of the flowers.

Manolis,
I hear that this was a particularly dark eclipse. A good thing to do during totality is to bracket exposures. A longer exposure would have probably netted a better image. Also, a longer lens is better for shooting the moon by itself.

More focal length and you could have seen both Venus and the moon as thin crescents. That would have made for a stunning image. I wish I wasn't clouded out for this opportunity.

Kostas,
All the techniques for processing astroimages that I am used to have as their goal to darken the sky and bring out detail in nebulae, galaxies, or clusters without blowing out the individual stars.. "Brightening" the image goes against my instincts. Who knows, it may help the image.

Aytac,
Nice work for a single shot of the Red Planet. As far as capturing planetary detail, webcams on telescopes are the detector of choice, as they can capture many frames, the best of which can be combined with software to tease out quite a bit of detail.

The telescope was tracking the sky and I was manually guiding it, that is correcting for errors in the tracking due to imperfections in the gears, etc., using a reticle eyepiece.

Ryan,
A good start. What you probably want is a piggyback mount with a ball head or pan head to allow you to adjust the field of view of your camera not to include the scope. This is not necessary for lenses with longer focal lengths. A bit further west and you may have caught Comet NEAT!
