Thanks for the another nice detailed constructive comment! Yes, it is a bit OoF, but hey - it is just a pocket camera.
Cheers

Thanks for the nice detailed comment again Nick!
No bracketing as you said because of the lack of time. I tried to have the best about it, and I think the result was fine for me. Thanks for the constructive comment! And no AF next time :)

And a very fruitful experiment it was, as the seconds fly by in front of a static background. Nice study which shows me that you do realize many of the essential things in photography, Andras!

I can't say if the focus is sharp enough but I can say that this is a very imposrtant subject to study: Change as opposed to constance.

Continue, continue!

Your focus and choise of DoF are extremely good as is the coloring of the fur, Andras! The background is a bit too weak for puting the fox into the absolute spotlight - but then again, foxes and horses do not seem to care about standing in front of the right background. ;-)

Of course one could say that a small correction towards underexposure could darken the background to the point of delivering a stronger impression of the fox itself. The question is whether the coloring/detail of the fox would remain intact then. BTW, did you bracket? Which is unlikely since the fox wouldn't just stay there for a long time, as you already said, but just for my curiosity.

Bets wishes,

Nick

P.S.: Now that would be a much more useful feature of digital photography: Instead of giving us the autofocus, that turns useless most of the time, give us autobracketing at last!

I do find the composition OK, Andras! It is the lack of contours/contrast that I perceive as a minus here. Had it a more distinct contrast, it could turn to a small eye magnet.

So, was it perhaps autofocus?

Cheers,

Nick

I am inclined to say the same considering the legs, Andras! More legs, less dirt? It seems to be a reasonable way.

Nick.

P.S.: Oh but wait! More dirty legs could also be very magnetizing! >:-D

Maybe a crop on the left, and hmm, I shouldn't have cropped poor creature's leg - wait a sec, not cropped, I shot him without legs - maybe thats the problem. But anyway, thanks for the constructive comment!!!

Technically very very nicely done, as the very hard contours of the grey fur in front iof the grey earth are very well visible. I have some problems with the composition here, Andras... something is missing - something is too much, I can't say exactly.

Best wishes,

Nick

Very nicely exposed uopt to some minor overexposure problems on the center of the flower. But the remarkable thing is that you managed to do the macro using an 18-50mm lens! For that alone, hat off! Not to speak about the very very reasonably used DoF around the selective focus!

Best wishes,

Nick

Andras, I think that the lower part does play a very important role here, as it is the "neutral" black on which the vivid colors can develop their powers, and also as it provides some kind of "shadow theater" in front of the very highlighted rest of the image. I tried to crop it according to your idea, but I think that your original has a more powerful look and feel.

All the best,

Nick
