I find the lighting a bit harsh, but I don't think it ruins the image.. the highlighted drops of water sparkle nicely and make a wonderful backdrop for this amazing butterfly!
Did you tired it out so that it would pose for you??? Great detail.. .I can only hope to get a shot close to this one day!

Such a great sky behind the windmill. Excellent colors. I have a windmill shot that was taken about a month ago and just this past weekend we had a storm go through and it blew down. Don't have many windmills left in this country. This one was was still working.
Great work. I went to digital a couple of years ago. Started the same as you. 4x5 and then 21/4. Never got along real well with 35mm.
You have some nice work. Don.

Excellent on all points Tony. I like the composition and the fresh colors of this almost blooming narcissus (dafodil). An original capture too, mostly see them in full bloom at pictures. The "new born" flowers adds to that first "springfeeling".

The butterfly is quite amazing, but I agree with Samuel about the light. To be more precise, I like how the butterfly is lighted, it is the reflections on the leaves that distract me. Perhaps they could have been reduced with a PL filter? Maybe you could crop a bit off the bottom, and burn the spots to the top left of the butterfly.

I want to say thanks for the article on better dodging & burning in Photoshop, I found it very useful.

Hi Tony!
I was following along with your tutorial about Dodging and Burning in PS and I have a question. Can you email me at kimbalina@hotmail.com ???

Lovely pastel colours and the halo aroudn the rising sun is fantasic. The two trees are the icing on the cake!

The colours in this shot are wonderfull Tony. The only things I think is a pitty is that there is a lack of depth. Ok you used 50mm and maybe I'm being too conventional here. But I think wide angle with more of the grass in the foreground leading the eye all the way up to the mill would give more feel for depth and make the photo more dynamic.

Just some thoughts.

Regards,
Julien

Tony, I like the shot of the beautiful butterfly. As for the lighting, well, I find it to be a bit harsh and maybe a little distracting to the image as a whole. Maybe you could try diffusing the light source (I presume a flash) and use a reflector to even it out a bit. Just some thoughts. Sam

Nicely done Tony. The placement of the clouds makes for a very effective composition. This may look very fine indeed in B&W.

Hi Tony - one my favorite of all your images - just thought of this - the bright area on the ground beside the windmill - have you thought of toning it down a little - as is the wondmill has great power - the cliuds seem to be coming from it - wonderful

Julien - I really want to thank you for your comment. It made a profound improvement to my image. Constructive comments are always welcomed by me and are one of the reasons that I enjoy posting my images. Thank you for your honesty in pointing out an obivious flaw.

I like the composition with the nice diagonal lines overlapped by the wings of the butterfly. The colour contrast black/white/blue works well IMO. Where did you find such a nice butterfly?? A blue one! Well since you used PS to selectively desaturate the photo, maybe you can also copy some of the texture of the wood to the bottom part of the wood so that it looks less washed out. It was the only thing that bothered me slightly.

I like this one. It has a real "Silence of the Lambs" look to it. Nice approach with the coloring here.
