I know Joe, it IS complicated. I have got into arguments with many in the past on this, and tend to avoid it these days :) .. because in the end, it's really how much of what is acceptable to you or me, as a person.

Which differs. And it's fine that it differs.

cheers, Avi

Good discussion Avi.
I feel that when photography is used as a tool to produce art rather than for documentary purposes then almost anything goes as far as postprocessing goes.
There are exceptions, in many cases, I feel it is up to the photographer to declare how accurately the image reflects reality. This subject is very complicated.
Regards,
Joe

Hi Joe,

I am a big supporter of including a human element in such compositions, so if possible, include a full person. But I am not too much supportive of the idea of a complete cut-paste of a part of one image onto another (totally my own viewpoint), but would rather encourage you to keep this in mind on other occasions where you are about to shoot a similar composition.

very best,
Avi

You make a good point. While in Paris I took around 2000 images. Upon reviewing the images when I returned home I was intreged with this shot. One issue with the shot is the people in the corridor. Unfortunately, I can not go back and reshoot the image. I actually have removed one person, leaving the second for scale. Having received your suggestion I tend to agree with you. I will see what I can do with removing the person and maybe place a person from another shot in the image as I would like to have someone in the shot.
Thanks for your time and thoughts.
Joe

What Todd mentioned about the sun pillar is what made this photo jump out to me Joe. The first one I photographed was less intense, but taller........... and I didn't know it was even there until I got my film developed. I thought something ruined my sunset by putting a streak in it. Haa haa, but since then, I look for these optical things. I think they are beautiful. Your photo certainly is.
From your front door? I am jealous.... I have to drive 15 minutes to get to the shoreline. ;) Very nice

good, but my honest suggestion is either include the full human figure in the composition, or don't have it at all.
best, Avi
