You can see the caution in her eyes, but she has a great interest in what you are doing. The eye contact you maintain is excellent as is the composition and the lighting....cute subject too

Here is a b/w version. I think it is perhaps more powerful than the original color.

It's nice to know that somebody actually knows who Edward Weston was! Very good tribute photo. The only thing that I'd like to see different here is that the background in the lower right could use a bit of burning to separate it in value from the petal. Other than that ... Great!

I wonder what Weston would have thought of digital imaging?

Norma, you are the first to have commented on this. Yes, the image is 90 degrees inverted. I must have shot in portrait mode and simply scaled for size and uploaded. Good eye.

Thank you, Partha and Winfried. I see them and can't resist them. There are some yellow ones down the street from me that I really want to grab. Luke

Yes, Angelo...you are looking at the back of the wilting flower. It had been a long day for both of us and I think the light was beginning to fade. You are right about the exposure. I wanted to really block the background and with the fading light this seemed to work best. Orientation is something I am working on still. I forget sometimes to use the other orientation when shooting.

Nice blue colours, Luke.

I am a little confused by the photo. Am I looking at the "back" of the flower (i.e. the bit connected to the stem)? It seems so.

Overall, the image looks a little (1/3 - 1/2 a stop?) dark.

I like the off-center placement of the subject, but I wonder if the horizontal orientation is the ideal one... A vertical orientation would have shown more of the stem and perhaps cut out that distracting in-focus leaf.

I love this image you've created of a daffodil. I'm curious. Have you rotated the image you snapped? The greens are a bit horizontal. I love it as is, just wondering.

It is the 1600 speed ISO equivalent. But I was handholding big glass and not much sunlight today. I might try a run through noise reduction software. Trying hard to post it as I take it without all the Post Processing. Luke

Nice colours and composition. I like the panoramic crop. The smaller version looks great, but when I openned to the full size, it looked a little grainy.
