Claude, this is nicely lit, wonderfully composed and appropriately colorful. The orange bandana against the weathered painted wood has so much texture that the face jumps out of the image. Thanks!

Isaac, this is nicely composed. You are right to concentrate on the in camera work. I am guessing when you have it right you will know. The PS work can only improve an image that has a basis to start. Too much white may have thrown off your meter. Bracket like crazy or use the spot sensor. Do you have a gray card? Or better yet, something you always have with you that you can use to balance the light/shadows within the camera. Some use and incident meter. Still this is a nice image. Keep shooting like you have been. I have enjoyed seeing your work, lately.

Thanks, Sometimes i wonder Trish, if I am pushing myself towards the wrong direction. I work with people all day long, and the abstract comes so naturally to me that it does not feel like work. People are tough because of their inherent complexity. When I can deconstruct people like the abstract, perhaps my portraits will be better.

Excellent capture, Todd. I can tell you as a local this is one fine image. IDS encapsulated in fog/mist, the lights of DT Mpls, the colors of the evening sky. Sharp image.

Nice to see a young man captured innocent and pure. Not often that we see images of boys in this "light". Well done, excellent tight composition and you used the light you had to your advantage.

Isaac, it is difficult to capture the little ones, even with a fast focusing camera like the D70. You might need an assistant for busy people like this. Someone to hold his attention in your general direction. This image gives us an impression of how busy Mom really is with the little one that is ON THE GO. I say shoot this one again with her. Each child has an optimum time of day that works best for them. Mom will know when that time is. Even the busiest of the busy need to slow down so they can get ready for the next burst. Luke

It is only because I think you have a wonderful compositional style. I can't work people like you do. I have a huge box of negatives here and a HD full of so-so people images that I continue to dissect. I look at your work because it is good!

It's not a monster, Isaac. Have any hand tools that you use versus a power drill or screwdriver? Similar principle. I often strip the head when I use the motorized drill, especially the cordless drill. We can take too much for granted with digital so we get sloppy and omit steps or skip them because we can CHIMP. I think that your digital can become your friend when used appropriately. Just because it is easier does not make it better! I have been through a similar move with my A2, but I find I really slow down when I have a film body and even more when I load slide film because of the diminished error latitude. Keep shooting either way. This one is really quite good!

Exactly as I saw it yesterday. Bright sun pouring in through the northern window and all the stuffed animals sitting on the ledge. I thought of the current project and shot 7 frames with this one resulting as best from the bracketing.

This is who he is, Isaac. Nothing is going to change that. You managed to capture that essence. Sharp, well-defined, excellent DOF. Slight shadow under his chin, but it does not detract from the powerful imagery. Does he like it?
