This is a lovely shot of this girl. Perhaps could use more contrast between light and dark, but beautiful nonetheless. The focus looks a bit soft around the face, but that may be what you were going for. All in all this is very well done, congratulations.

I find composition and lighting so great here, Angela! The degree of contrast enhances the look of smooth light that adds something of a special moment. The timing was very well chosen in ahreement to the atmosphere of the image. I think also that the uniform background is very good for enhancing visual character of the young protagonist in the quite silent look and feel!
Cheers!
Nick
P.S.: Wish I could see this as a real big poster!

Dear Angela!. I was far away the town. Now I back in town. very natural and realistic photo. My opinion you have an different internal silence.Generally your photos clear, pure and silent. Maybe you are looking through your solitude. And this is your language

The great thing about this one I fing that kind of "light haze" that joins all the flares and creates such a vivid, flasing impression of the vibrating city! I think that it also connects very well to the chosen "skew" perspective, as it makes it clear, that it is a city. Quick, running, conflicting, anything goes. And anything goes flashy!
I wished I could see the details on the skyscraper and the other building too a bit better. Any chances for a bigger version, Angela?
All the best,
Nick

sorry if I am making a different comment but I think the feeling of cropping is tense and it needs more contrast. However, it is a sweet image, children's images are always a success.:)

Nicely done, Angela. Composition is fine. No idea as to what you're asking us to look at and critique so I'll just critique what I see.
I think your light is nice, long low light. But I think there is too much blue on the white house. I would suggest reducing the blue in Photoshop if you have it, in selective colors adjustment.

Yeah, I know some combustibles come pre-packaged with their own oxygen source and so maybe there is enough free oxygen in coal for the task. Dunno. I don't live anywhere near there. I'm in Seattle.

I think you've got to remember that this is coal on fire too. A normal fire that you can easily smother is what, wood? And smothering it will extinguish the flames, but may leave hot "coals". :) And Anthracite coal is a fuel source. I think the way that coal forms in the ground naturally is with lots of air pockets.
It's amazing how they tried several times and different ways to put it out, then 20 years later final said "screw it". :) It was cheaper to relocate over 1000 residents that keep pouring money into a losing battle. Man vs. nature - we don't always win!
Where do you live, James? You should take a drive out there if you're in the North East.

Yeah, I'm sure it's something like that. But in my mind it seems so easy to smother the fire by depriving of oxygen (plugging the holes). I'll explore that site some more.
