ok, so i live in minnesota and it snows all the time. you get snow for a weekend and you manage to get a much cooler (no pun intended) snow shot than i have ever got.
this is great, it's got a very surreal atmosphere. well done.

Good originality and emotional appeal. It's eyecatching since Jordan is almost heman in attentiveness and the viewer wants to know 'what's out there?'

However, the effects of the lighting and "grey" cast can minimized with some tweaking in PS (Elements in this case). Levels, contrast/brightness and filtering using unshar

While this is interesting to you because of your experience-- and it is a good experiment, I just don't think there is enough "there" there. Perhaps some heavy cropping on the right, and maybe some contrast adjustment to bring out the faint lights better? Just my thoughts.
