Hi Ganeshwar, I meant the left-right tilt in the photograph, rather than the upwards perspective which I'm keen on having taken some from a similar angle. For best "straightness", make sure you're standing right in the middle of the front of the tower.
A tripod is probably a good idea if you're straining your back so much - especially with shutter speeds as low as that. And if you take a tripod next time you can have the luxury of a really slow film eg Velvia which will boost the colour saturation of that great stonework. Then you can work at f/22 - and (depending how far above your head you're looking to start with), perhaps hyperfocal focusing might give great depth.
The new shot you enclosed is cool - well chosen angle, nice framing, lovely colours - quite picture postcardy!

Chris, Thanks for your comments. When u mean straight - do u mean the tilt or an straight on angle? If it were for the straight-on angle, I submitted this photo under the project - Above your head, eventhough i have several straight-on pictures of the building. Regarding the top of the tower, I was hand holding the camera - not to mention an unusually bent over back - I was more conecerned about capturing the figures on the tower. Regarding the DOF, eventhough the day looks bright, the shutter speed was around 1/60 - 1/30 (i dont exactly remember which one) and I was apprehensive about holding the pose (my bent backwards pose) at a lower shutter speed without a camera shake. May be for the same angle I will pack a tripod. :-)
I'm enclosing another pic of the tower shot from a traditional angle. Thanks again for your critique - I just started photography as a hobby and welcome any suggestions to improve my pictures.

Hi Ganeshwar, I hope you don't mind me being critical, but I think this image could benefit from three things a) It would be far better straight b) It would be better if the top of the tower was visible against the sky and not cut off, c) It's not got enough depth of field. It looks like a bright enough day for a much smaller aperture.
However, the colours are lovely, the subject is interesting, the light is nice and the exposure looks pretty good. Worth another try if you can get there easily?
